[Diarmuid smiles widely at Waver as he sets the towel down on the back of a nearby chair.]

There are other things that we really should focus on, aren't there? Here let me take care of one for you...

[It takes only a moment for Diarmuid to reach out and grab Waver by the collar, lifting him into the air with one hand. Not so easily as Rider had done it back during Diarmuid's version of the 4th War, but...]

The next question is...what exactly were you and Eskardos working on that ended up with you like this?

[He flailed uselessly for a moment or two before giving up, hanging there with a miserable look on his face.]

I don't know what he was doing, but it exploded. I was too busy trying to kill him after that to listen to an explanation.

[Instead of putting him down, Diarmuid lifts Waver a bit more so he can look the magus in the face.]

How did you expect to fix yourself if you killed him without finding out what he was up to first might I ask?

Oh? Is that so? Then, Mr. Oh-So-Smart-Magus...you are going to have to figure out on your own how to get down, because I don't feel like putting you down quite yet. And once you do that, maybe I will consider accepting that you might be smart enough to figure this out alone. Otherwise...

One: How does making him figure out a way to fix this mess prove you are smarter than he is?

[Diarmuid gives him one last swing--a little stronger than the others--and flips him onto the nearby couch.]

[Waver scrambled to a sitting position, crossing his arms with a scowl.]

Tossing me around is, as far as I am concerned, the opposite of making this easier for me.

[Diarmuid crosses his arms over his own chest and mimics Waver's scowl.]

You asked me to put you down. This I did. You never specified how I needed to put you down. As they say, the devil is in the details, my friend.

[Diarmuid's expression grows more serious and he walks over to sit on the arm of the couch.]

Is it wrong that I am trying to lighten the mood for you? If there was anything else you could do to fix this now, I expect you would still be at the Tower working. Since you are home, I can only assume you are stuck and need something to get your mind off things...

...You're right. There's really nothing I can do but wait either for this to wear off or Eskardos to sprout a brain.

But if you're trying to make me feel better, at least sit next to me instead of over there.

[Diarmuid laughs softly, moving to sit next to Waver on the couch.]

Better? At least I am now in hitting range, right?

[Diarmuid tilts his head to the side to rest against Waver's shoulder.]

Not really. I guess we're pretty stuck for now.

...it's weird, but this is kind of nostalgic, to tell you the truth.

[Diarmuid smiles, dropping his arm around Waver's shoulders and pulling the ma--boy closer.]

Care to share? To tell me a story about a pair of idiots who thought they could win a war?

[Waver smiled slightly despite his attempts to continue being annoyed, leaning against Diarmuid's side with hardly a second thought.]

I couldn't read Japanese. Still can't, actually. So whenever we tried to go somewhere I had to ask you to read any signs. It was...kind of embarrassing. Especially when we got lost.

[He shook his head, laughing softly and placing a hand on Diarmuid's arm.]

I used to shout at you and pull on your arm when I was upset or nervous because I barely came up to your shoulder when we were standing together. Kind of pathetic, really.

[Diarmuid's smile is gentle. Though he expects that Waver will probably object to the description, he says it anyway because it is true.]

Do...you want me to try and teach you Japanese? That way if we ever go back to visit, maybe we will spend a little less time lost?
