[Waver started to turn faintly red, and he responded by hiding his face against Diarmuid's shoulder.]

I...I like this. Being close to you like this, it's...it's nice.

[Diarmuid reaches up and strokes Waver's hair.]

[Diarmuid gives him a curious look before doing as he has been asked and closing his eyes.]

[He fidgeted slightly and swallowed hard, taking a deep breath before reaching up just enough to press a light kiss directly to Diarmuid's lips.]

There. I've done my stupid embarrassing thing for the day.

Mmm...no, I don't think I can count that as your embarrassing thing of the day. Not quite yet.

[Diarmuid peeps one eye open at him.]

I taught you better than that. Put some of that skill to use if you want me to count it.

You really want an eighteen-year-old to kiss you properly?

[There was a dismissive frown on his face, but Waver's tone was lightly teasing.]

I thought much better of your preferences, you know.

[His eyes widen as he realizes how bad that must sound and quickly adds onto it.]

[He winks at Waver, attempting to hide the fact he is a little surprised the magus let things go that easy.]

So...are you going to kiss me for real then?

...I don't think...I mean, I wouldn't be any good at initiating something like that.

You don't know until you try and it's not like I will mock you.

[Diarmuid leans forward and shuts his eyes in case that might make it easier for Waver.]

O...okay, I'll...give it a try.

[Waver swallowed hard, trying to steady himself. He placed slightly trembling hands on Diarmuid's shoulders, leaning forward as well to attempt a cautious, hesitant kiss.]

[Diarmuid responds to the kiss gently, carefully encouraging Waver without taking control from him. The last thing he wants his friend to do is give up control when this whole thing is suppose to be about him leading.

Honestly, for all his complaining and worrying, it's not a bad kiss.]

[He pulled away after a second or two longer, face flushed bright scarlet.]

S-see, I'm..I'm not any good at this.

[Diarmuid smiles as Waver pulls away. He then taps him on the nose.]

Am I complaining? Really the only thing you lack is confidence. That's a big part of it, you know. Catching someone by surprise and taking control goes a long way.

[Diarmuid gives him a questioning look.]

You have plenty of confidence when you are at the Tower and you take control all the time when it comes to your students. All you have to do is apply those things to kissing. Is it really that hard to do?

B-because...because that's not the same thing! Teaching's simple because I know everything about what I'm doing. Th-this isn't...even if I did have enough experience in this, kissing someone and giving a lecture on magical theory are completely different!
