[Diarmuid looks away, eyes closing for a moment.]

I just didn't know you thought about... I mean, I know we are close, but... I'm just going to shut up now.

Oh my god I'm so sorry I need to keep my mouth shut.

[Pressing his hands to his face, Waver looked like he was praying for the ability to sink into the floor and disappear.]

[Diarmuid shakes his head, taking a moment to try and calm down before speaking again.]

I think we both need to probably shut up. At least until we can actually start finishing our sentences...

[Diarmuid gently kisses Waver on the forehead before starting to shift the boy off his lap.]

[Diarmuid shakes his head.]

I always seem to push the teasing too far... I make you say things you don't want to or aren't ready to say. Why shouldn't I be sorry for that?

[Diarmuid finishes moving away from Waver and stands up with a serious look on his face.]

Why not? I make you say things you don't want to. I keep bringing us to these uncomfortable places.

[Tears wet the corners of his eyes and he blinks to try and push them away. He's not sure why this is suddenly bothering him so much. Maybe it's because Waver doesn't look so much like the adult Diarmuid knows he is.

Maybe he's just being a fool.]

Diarmuid, stop. Listen, okay? I know what being bullied and pushed around feels like, and this isn't that. It's my fault for slipping up and overreacting, alright?

[Diarmuid cuts himself off and shuts his eyes for a moment before reopening them and kneeling down next to Waver, placing his head in his friend's lap.]

[He rested one hand on Diarmuid's head, stroking his hair lightly.]

...I probably would have tried to bring the subject up eventually, but tact was never my strong point with these things.

[Diarmuid shuts his eyes, leaning into the touch.]

Do you want to talk about it now since the subject as been brought up tactfully or not or would you rather wait until you're back to normal?

[Diarmuid lifts his head slightly so that he can smile up at Waver.]

[One hand comes up to cup Waver's face, his thumb stroking his friend's cheek.]

Whatever you want. Whenever you are ready, okay? There's no rush.

[Diarmuid shakes his head and laughs.]

[Diarmuid's hand shifts from Waver's cheek so that he can run a finger lightly over his friend's lips.]

[Waver quickly looked to the floor, faltering a few times before managing to speak.]
