And you've heard me say 'cool' before. It just means...cool. Like, if something's really good?

[He's still a little too disoriented to realize that the Servant looks different from Diarmuid.]

I know no Professor Velvet.

[The Servant shifts slightly so that he can meet Flatt's gaze with his own strange eyes.]

Nor do I know you. I have never heard you use this 'cool' word before now. Tell me...

[The musical tone of his voice seems to drop to a deep rumble much like that of a drum. His words almost seem to beat as he speaks.]

...are you my master? Is it you who awakened me? Or is it this Professor Velvet I should seek out?

Uh...I think I'm your Master. If you came out of that circle when I tried summoning a Servant, that is.

[A pause.]

...I mean, yeah! I am your Master and you're my Servant.

Then you...

[The Servant gives Flatt what can only be called an appraising look. Gone is his previous confusion, replaced now with curiosity and...need?]

...you will help me find him? The one who I must find?

...Who are you looking for? Maybe I can try.

[Servants were supposed to be called from the past. Then why was this Servant looking for someone in the modern era?]

[A grin crosses the Servant's face for the first time clearly showing his tusk-like canine teeth.]

Whose face do I wear? You...recognize it.

[Berserker's mind had been too hazy to comment on it before. His concentration too new. His focus only able to take baby steps, but now things are clearing and his mind is able to function like a human mind for the first time in many, many years.]

Where is he? Where is my brother?

[Flatt gives an impressed whistle as he sees Berserker's teeth.]

The one with your face? Uh...he's called Diarmuid. Looks like you, but his teeth are normal.

He's Professor Velvet's bodyguard though. I don't know if you're related.

[Berserker's grin widens.]

Yes, Diarmuid. My Little Hawk. "He who is without enemies."

[With his brain much more focused now, Berserker finally moves from his spot at the center of the circle. He doesn't approach Flatt, but he does take a few steps forward, looking around the room they are in.]

We are half-brothers, though we did not know and most of history has forgotten. Just...as it has forgotten my name. But he remembers. I am sure he remembers...

So Diarmuid is a Servant too? That's cool. That's...

[He would say more, but at that moment, the full impact of the prana drain from summoning a Servant, not to mention a Berserker, hits him. Needless to say, he drops like a sack of potatoes.]

So he is here? My brother...

[For a moment, a childish hope and light enter Berserker's eyes. However, that light is tempered when Flatt suddenly collapses. He rushes forward, just barely in time to keep Flatt from hitting the floor.]

Master? Are you ill?

[The hold he has on the boy is a nervous one. Berserker is well aware of how easily his claws could hurt Flatt and that is the last thing he wants to do.]

[Flatt just winces and mutters something about Professor Velvet and glitter and windows. Then, he starts snoring, indicating that he's not hurt Just asleep.]

...Master?

[Berserker is very unsure of how to deal with this. He is thankful that his master is only asleep, but what does he do now? Unlike other Servants, he has very few memories of how this kind of thing works and most of those memories are of Diarmuid, spared from loss only because they were so closely tied to the object of his cursed obsession.

In the end, the only thing he can think of to do is move Flatt as carefully as he can to a more comfortable position and wait for the man to wake. He does remember vividly a night when he and his brother fell asleep leaning against each other out in the training yard, and so it is into this position he shifts Flatt, the man's head resting against his shoulder.

At least for one used to being lost completely to madness, the waiting is not too boring. There are so many things to see for the first time through clear eyes, even in this plain room, that he has plenty to do while waiting.]

[That might not be the wisest choice, as Flat drools as he sleeps, staining the other man's shoulder wet with saliva.]

[As for the room. the only clean area is probably where Berserker had been summoned. Mounds of items have been pushed into the corners or under the bed. Bags of unfinished snack foods and sodas. Crumpled homework and note sheets. A sizable collection of pornographic magazines. Stubs of pencils and erasers. A small stack of comics, by which there are a few action figures. Somewhere, lost among this junk, are the tools of a magus. A test tube here, a clump of herbs there. And even one pile twitching as if some poor familiar had been lost under there.]

[Several of the walls have been plastered with pictures of nubile, naked women. However, like the bare spaces on the walls, they have been scribbled over with marker. Things like phone numbers or equations or even interesting ideas that their owner had no other place to put at the moment. Against one wall leans a screen that might have been a television had it been plugged in.]

[It's not a neat room. It's not even a typical magus' room. It looks like the room of some teenage slacker.]

[Regardless of what conclusions Berserker may draw, after a while, Flatt rubs at his eyes and wakes up.]

Ugh...that was some dream...

[He mutters, and gets up from his strangely flesh pillow...to see Berserker's form right by him.]

W-whoa! You're real!

[To be honest, Berserker doesn't even notice the drooling. After spending so much time as a crazed beast with no sense of self besides the need to find that specific someone to kill, his senses have become dulled, his need and ability to flag things as important or not important has become twisted and skewed.

For example, while at first he is mildly curious about a lot of the things in Flatt's cluttered room, as his eyes pass over them his mind catalogs and discards most of the things he sees as 'not important' because they have no obvious tie to the thing he is looking for--his brother. However, he really should be paying more attention to these things since, even if they have no tie to his brother, the do tell a great deal about his Master.

And speaking of Master...]

If you wish to be specific, this is not my 'real' form, but I don't think that is what you mean...

Then, wait, what is your real form?

[Flatt straightens himself out now that he's no longer leaning on Berserker. Maybe it's the sleeping position, or the prana drain, but either way, he feels a little sore.]

Anyway, no matter what you really look like, you're here right now and you're my Servant.

[The Servant tilts his head at Flatt curiously.]

You did not see? When I was originally called in, I was in my true form--that of a monstrous boar. However, even you would not be safe from me in that form. I know nothing other than rage and hatred in it. The Grail gave me this form...

[He motions toward himself.]

...so that our partnership would not end before it even began. I do not have...much...

[A frown mars Berserker's features. It is obvious he does not like to admit this.]

...in the way of fighting skill in this form. I did not live long enough as a human to learn much. However, the only way to return me to a controllable form is via a command spell. Do not ask me to change form lightly. You have only three spells to use.

[And truth be told, Berserker really has no wish to return to that mad state.]

A boar? Cool!

[His eyes are blazing with curiosity. For a second, he actually considers letting Berserker go pig form just to see what it looks like. But at the same time, his room would probably be too small for Berserker then. Besides, Berserker is cool enough in human form. He would naturally see Berserker change forms come time to fight.]

Yeah, I only have three, but it's not like there's that much stuff I wanna order you around about anyways.

[He grunts and stretches.]

So, if you don't have much fighting skill, what skills do you have?

I...am...persistent? I don't know...

[Again, Berserker seems hesitant and embarrassed about how weak of a Servant he actually is like this.]

I was very young when I became what I became. The only reason I know anything about fighting is because my brother disobeyed our Father when he said I was too young to learn and taught me anyway.

Most of my great strength lies in my true broken and mad form...

Young? How young were you? I bet you were a cute kid.

[Berserker falls quiet searching the few fuzzy memories he has left of his childhood.]

My brother...was a year older than me. I think he was...six? That would have made me five...

I do not know if I was cute, but my brother was beautiful. He was so good to me...always. Even when others ignored me...

Well, Diarmuid is pretty good looking for a man...So I bet you must've been cute too, if you looked like him.

[Suddenly, a thought comes into his mind.]

Well, you're saying you didn't get much done as a kid, did you? What do you wanna do now? You're still only five years old, so I'm, like, an older bro to you or something.

[He jumps to his feet, but he wobbles. The more he thinks about it, the nicer the idea of getting Berserker to have some fun is.]

Come on, are you hungry? Let's get you some food.

[Since he's a pig, he has to be constantly hungry, right?]

No!

[Despite being only one word, there is a great deal of emotion in it. It's snarled, it's yelled and yet, it's still very soft and musical in nature.]

I only have one brother. Diarmuid. My Little Hawk. My....I want my brother...

[And the anger slides away that fast into grief, into longing, into need. He means no insult, but his brother is everything to him. Beloved in life, sought after in death. Linked forever in a way others can't even begin to imagine.]

Can we go to my brother?

[He recoils at Berserker's extreme reaction.]

Uh...okay?

[It takes only a few seconds for him to regain that smile.]

Come on. let's find your brother. He should be at Professor Velvet's house!

[When Flatt agrees to take him to see his brother, Berserker's whole attitude changes again very quickly. He smiles, the best he can, child-like glee entering his eyes.]

We can go? We really can? This...Professor Velvet won't mind? He will let me see my brother? Oh...

[Suddenly, the light goes out of Berserker's eyes.]

Perhaps...my brother will not wish to see me after...

Oh come on, brothers always wanna see each other! Even if you guys fought, this is the perfect time for you to apologize, isn't it?
