[Berserker pulls the scarf a little tighter.]

I don't want to accidentally get my brother in trouble.

Let's see...I think you're all set now...

[He looks around the room, and happens to find Nestor.]

...Would you like to take Nestor out with you too? We can...stick him in a drinking fountain or something.

[Berserker smiles, actually considering the idea of taking his new pet with him for a moment, but then shakes his head.]

I am not used to having a pet yet, and we aren't sure how well this little outing will go. Maybe next time? If nothing goes wrong? I don't want anything to happen to him...

[If they get attacked, the turtle will be the least of his worries even if it would break his heart later on to have something happen to him.]

[Flatt shrugs and places the turtle on top of the the (television?) screen.]

Sure, let's have him wait here.

[He goes to grab Berserker's hand.]

Now, come on. Let's go.

[Berserker gives his grabbed hand an odd look. He is still not used to being touched like this--so freely and openly. It's nice even if his sense of touch is muted enough that he can only just feel Flatt's hand on his.]

He can guard your room while we are gone!

[It's a soft sound. Probably as close as Berserker can come to laughter, but it is there nonetheless.]

[Meanwhile, Flatt is already looking ahead, paying no attention to Berserker's odd look.]

Turtle lasers to the face! Enough to keep anything out.

[He just hopes it won't be spamming lasers at them anytime soon.]

Turtle lasers?

[Berserker follows along behind his master, voice confused.]

Can...he really shoot lasers?

I think he can. I built that into him. But I've never tried to make him fire at anything yet.

[Flatt doubles back to make sure that the door is locked and all the charms set into place before moving briskly down the hall.]

Do you wanna try?

Try what? You mean getting him to fire the lasers?

[Berserker gives Flatt a questioning look.]

How would we do that?

Well...probably by pretending something is attacking me? Or pretending something is attacking him?

[Berserker frowns.]

Is there really no other way than scaring him?

[He doesn't like the idea of scaring his new pet...]

He was made to be a weapon and he doesn't listen to me all that much...so I don't think there's any other way besides scaring him.

[oathbrokentusk]

Can...I try talking to him? Maybe he will listen to me?

[After all, Berserker's not exactly human. He lived longer as a boar than he did a child. Maybe he will be able to reach another animal where someone who has been human all their life cannot.]

Sure, you're welcome to try. If you can speak his language, that is.

[He does his best to imitate a turtle noise.]

[Berserker laughs softly at the attempt.]

You don't need to literally speak turtle to speak to him. There are other ways. My father was a druid, after all. Let me try when we return from our walk.

[His eyes light up.]

Woah, what, really? Cool! So if he was a druid, did he know other tricks than just talking to animals?

He knew many many 'tricks' as you say. There is a reason my lessons started so young. It takes a very long time to learn all there is to learn about being a druid.

[Berserker pauses a moment and then shakes his head.]

Actually, you can never fully learn everything. A true druid never stops learning.

People say that about magi too. But they also say that the knowledge a magus can gather in his lifetime is limited, and so that's why crests exist.

[He mutters, looking contemplative. He almost wants to prove them wrong and find some way to grasp everything. But at the same time, the intense study that most magi seemed to go for wasn't attractive for him at all.]

That is why a true druid never stops learning. There is a limit to what one may learn, but that limit is removed once they die and return. They need only to begin anew once they walk the world again.

[They are his father's words, not his own. Berserker isn't sure if he even understands them completely, but for some reason they put him at ease even if he doesn't completely understand.]

...Did your druids really know how preserve the state of the soul and reincarnate completely? That's so cool! Did he ever tell you how to do it?

[oathbrokentusk]

[Berserker frowns and shakes his head.]

I...don't know. He didn't get to teach me much and there is so much I have forgotten...

[It's frightening when he thinks about it--how little of himself remains after being the mad beast for so long.]

Oh.

[Flatt's face falls.}

Well, forget it. We're gonna get to see the Holy Grail, at least. I don't think that's something even druids had.

[oathbrokentusk]

No...I do not believe so.

[Berserker is silent for a long time before asking softly.]

Do you know what you want to wish for on the Grail, Master?

[fucknoflat]

...Nope! I just wanna see the Grail. I'll let you have first dibs on the wish.
