Well, uh...maybe? I feel guilty about always eating here for free?

Why do you feel guilty? Surely you know if I was really bothered I would tell you...

It's kinda because you're not bothered, you know? You're just so nice that I feel nasty about always being a moocher.

[radiantface]

[Diarmuid reaches out and bops her sister on the nose.]

You are my family. You aren't mooching.

Even my mother would make me do chores. Didn't you ever make Oscar clean up after himself?

[radiantface]

I did. Once.

[Diarmuid laughs.]

And then I never did again. The house was safer that way. It was like asking Grainne to cook...

[She snickers.]

...He's just that bad at housework? How did he keep himself alive>

[Diarmuid rolls her eyes.]

Duh. He had me. How else do you think he did it?

Didn't you ever teach him to clean? Or come to think of it, why didn't Fionn? Oscar was his grandson, right?

[radiantface]

Fionn? Teach someone how to clean? Are you kidding me?

[Diarmuid laughs hard and long about this.]

Where do you think Oscar got the messy genes from? Certainly not from Oisin! He was the only one out of all of them who could keep anything even a little tidy!

Did you have to clean for the entire Fiannna then? How did you do it all?

Wouldn't they have just loved that?

[She laughs again and shakes her head.]

No way. It was bad enough that I had to keep track of Oscar's messes. They got to take care of their own messes.

Great. So they didn't walk all over you.

[radiantface]

No. Of course not.

[She laughs, though there is a bit of a sharp edge to it.]

Oh a few tried, but they learned very quickly not to do it again. While I probably seemed like an easy to push around 'guy' in some respects, anyone who actually tried lived to regret it.

So you showed why you were the first knight.

[She nods.]


...You know, you've never talked about your past in this way before. You were always talking more about your kids.

[radiantface]

My kids...they were one of the things that had nothing...bad tied to them. They were mine. They loved me because I was their mother. Not because of a curse.

[She gives Cu Chulainn a slightly confused look.]

Is it surprising that I would rather talk of them than talk of things that quite often caused me pain?

I...didn't realize you were so curious about my past anyway.

Well...I guess it's because you have the advantage over me on that. You've read all my stories, but I don't know that much about your legend.

[radiantface]

You have a point there....

[She looks a little embarrassed.]

I guess I just never considered my legend that important. Not compared to yours.

[lancemyheart]

We made it into the same Throne of Heroes. Not like your legend is completely insignificant.

[radiantface]

No...but can you really say mine is on equal footing as yours? All I did was betray my lord and run and hide. There is nothing heroic about that. I don't know why I was even picked. Perhaps the Throne made a mistake...

[lancemyheart]

You were always helping people in need. There's no way the Throne made a mistake with you.

[radiantface]

But there is nothing heroic about that!

[She seems very insistent about this.]

It was just the right thing to do!

[lancemyheart]

And what do you think heroes are? They're the ones who do the right things when no one else will!

[radiantface]

But it's more than that too!

[Diarmuid's voice might be confident, but there is some uncertainty in her eyes.]

If it was just that, everyone would be a hero because people do the right thing all the time.

[lancemyheart]

[She scratches her head.]

Well...heroes do the right thing even when it's hard. It's because they do more than anyone else. It's because they accomplish more than anyone else can.
