Edit: Closing this one out for now. Please put all new threads here! Thanks! Fifth verse same as the first... It's new 'Call Me Out" Time!
【the ❝CALL ME OUT❞ meme】 V a roleplay meme to inspire muses.
♛ refer to the list above for active muses. ♛ post "calling" one of them out — you can do so by putting their name journal in the subject line! (I have too many Lancers to just go by name! No...you aren't, but I can't say that I blame you.
[Diarmuid takes a deep breath thinking back to what he knows of the sight that greeted his Waver in that workshop. He's seen a lot of terrible things in this place, but he doesn't think any of it will ever come close to that.
And he hadn't even seen it in person...]
There is someone you should probably talk to once you settle down a little. I think...it might help.
[Though, he can't help but let his smirk widen a little. He had a feeling that was going to be Waver's reaction. Big Waver or small, he can't help but tease.]
If I say this place practically runs on second magic, will it help? I wasn't kidding when I mentioned it before. It brings people from many different universes here. Different times too. The person I speak of is a version of you who summoned a Lancer in the war--not Rider as my version of you did--and comes from a time 10 years after the war ended.
I...never really thought about it in great detail. But could Second Magic really be present in such a capacity? You're telling me there's actually another of myself from the future?
And you say I...summoned Rider? That seems strange to think about.
There is a lot about this place that should be impossible and yet is possible. There being a version of you from the future is only the mildest of impossibles made possible that I could tell you about.
But yes, he is here and I am sure he would like to talk to you at some point in the not too distant future. He seems rather protective of other version of you who is in the Tower. He is one of the versions of you who summoned a Rider instead of a Lancer. Actually, you and my pa-
[He very quickly cuts himself off and starts again.]
...the older version of you are the odd balls in a way. In most versions of the 4th war, you always summon Rider. I thought it a universal constant until I met him.
[Wow...some things never change no matter what version or how many years have or haven't passed...]
Calm down and decide if you do or if you do not want to know who my master was. And if it helps any, notice I said 'was.' I have a different master now.
[Waver stepped back again, looking legitimately frightened Kayneth might just walk out from around a corner at any second. He didn't really know of many other Masters, aside from whoever the woman with Archer was and Caster's now-deceased one.]
If you mean Kayneth, then no. He is not here and as far as I know, there has never been a version of him here. He is also no longer my master.
[For a moment, a dark look passes over Diarmuid's face, but it is very quickly gone. So quickly, in fact, it won't be surprising if Waver thinks it only a trick of the light.]
He lost the right to be called that long ago. I have a far superior master now.
[Diarmuid suddenly drops from his crouching position into an actual kneeling one, hand pressed against his chest, head bowed.]
My apologies, Lord Velvet. Is this more to your liking? I suppose if you wish to blame anyone for the change in my behavior, blame your elder self. He seems to like me less perfectly obedient servant and more...me.
[Diarmuid raises his head, a confused look on his face.]
I have made no secret of who I am here. My version of the war is over so there is no reason for me to hide my identity any longer. If you really wish to know my name, all you need to do is ask and I will tell you.
I didn't exactly have time to do research beforehand, and we decided it was better if I didn't know. There wasn't a real disadvantage for us, and that way nobody could get information from me that I didn't know.
[Crossing his arms, Waver frowned.]
...Maybe I should have asked him anyway, before all this happened. [A sigh.]
[Diarmuid nods, understanding the logic in the plan and also Waver's curiosity. He begins to bow his head again out of force of habit, but stops himself, raising his gaze back to Waver and smiling.]
Hopefully, we will be able to fix all of this and you will have the chance to ask him. In the meantime, I will be glad to answer your request. Once called the First Knight of the Fianna, I now just call myself Diarmuid Ua Duibhne. It is a pleasure to meet another version of the man I hold in such high esteem.
Diarmuid...[Waver was thoughtful for a few seconds, repeating the name under his breath. In retrospect, it seemed painfully obvious. Had things really been so hectic that he'd overlooked things entirely?]
I probably should have seen that coming. [After quick consideration, Waver answered with a surprisingly honest smile.]
It's amazing how easily some things can be missed when the world is falling apart around you, isn't it? But now that we have been properly introduced, where do you want me to start trying to explain this giant mess to you? I will do whatever I can to make this easier though, even I cannot work miracles. For that, I am sorry.
It's...well, it's not really alright at all, is it? But--I think that I can probably rely on you, even if you aren't the Lancer that I summoned.
[Waver seemed hesitant, even a few steps short of distrustful. Even with a wary note to his voice, his words were sincere. If there was a lack of trust at all, it was likely down to Waver's own difficulties with the concept.]
Would it help if I said you are actually relying on your future self instead? Because he would beat me if I did not help you, and I would have you know your future self is a pretty good fighter...
[Diarmuid falls quiet for a moment thinking about where to start. There is so much...especially after what just happened with Jason...]
I guess the first place to start is what I mentioned before. Your world is gone, destroyed like the letters claim, but we have heard that there is a way to fix things and that is what we are fighting for right now. A way to fix things and allow those who wish it to go back home. Unfortunately, the Tower is running out of power and so the time we have is limited.

[Scowling, Waver folded his arms.]
Somebody I should talk to...? Who?

[Diarmuid can't help but smirk slightly. How many times has he heard that? Just from a deeper voice.]
Would you believe me if I said yourself about ten years down the road?

[Waver almost didn't want to ask the question. He had a very bad feeling about what he'd hear in response.]

[Diarmuid finishes the question, a sad look entering his eyes.]
I don't think you really want me to answer that for you...

[A genuine look between shock and fear crossed Waver's face as he took a shaky step backwards upon coming to the apparent conclusion.]

Wh-who is it, then?

[A grin suddenly crosses Diarmuid's face and he reaches out to lightly flick Waver in the forehead.]
You. Ten years older, much taller, and with better hair. That's who.
no subject
[That served only to confuse Waver even more.]
A...are you really sure you're Lancer?! I never thought I'd say I would almost prefer you being quiet.

[Scowling with a nondescript growl of aggravation, Waver shook his head forcefully as though trying to erase the previous conversation.]
Look, forget I said that. Just...let me try again.
[He took a deep breath, trying to calm down again.]
If I asked you your name, would you tell me?
