Edit: Closing this one out for now. Please put all new threads here! Thanks! Fifth verse same as the first... It's new 'Call Me Out" Time!
【the ❝CALL ME OUT❞ meme】 V a roleplay meme to inspire muses.
♛ refer to the list above for active muses. ♛ post "calling" one of them out — you can do so by putting their name journal in the subject line! (I have too many Lancers to just go by name! X.x ) ♛ can be informal/formal/comment spam/crosscanon/explicit/whatever tickles your fancy! ♛ feel free to make up a scenario at the start, or wait to see where things go.
Progress is slow because we have so much to figure out and it doesn't help that most of the Administrators who run this place are working against us.
[Though...if Riki and Zo really are on their side, that only really leaves Ruana against them. But...yeah...Ruana.]
So far we have managed to secure a place where we can work without the Administrators watching us and have also found a way to return our true powers to us. You will probably notice soon enough considering the glitches. I suppose that is what I should explain next...
[Diarmuid motions out around them.]
Everything you see is an illusion, including our bodies. It is created by what is called the glamour system. The only thing that was able to be brought here of us from our dying worlds is our souls.
[He places his hands over his chest.]
Those souls are placed into false bodies. There are pluses and minuses to this arrangement. The pluses are that because our souls are in false bodies, when we die here it is not permanent. The minus is that...well, reviving just became a lot more complicated thanks to the death of one of the Administrators...
[Diarmuid holds out a finger to cut off anymore objections or questions. Doesn't this feel familiar...]
I never said we aren't real. Our souls are very real. They are us. It is just that they aren't in their proper containers at the moment. I know that sounds rather harsh, but it is the truth. You will see it the next time the glamour flickers. These forms are wire frames and gel with a brilliant glow at the center.
That glow is the most important part of you--your soul. It is so important that we have been warned numerous times to make sure that no matter what we do, we do not let that part of us be divided or damaged because that kind of damage cannot be healed by anything.
[Diarmuid can't resist the temptation any longer and reaches out to put a comforting hand on Waver's shoulder.]
Give yourself time. This is a lot to get dumped on you all at once. While it is always sad when someone new arrives because it means another world is gone, it is even worse now because what we have to tell them is enough to break them if the shock of finding out about their world being gone doesn't do it itself.
I never said you were a child. Whatever gave you that idea?
[There is an amused look on his face.]
I am merely giving you some of the same advice I give all new arrivals. Do you wish me to continue, or would you rather return to your room and wait out this 'sick' feeling?
Yes, he tells me that regularly. Usually with that very same expression on his face, as a matter of fact.
[Diarmuid laughs softly, before falling more serious.]
Because these bodies are not our real ones, the Administrators have power over us they should not. They can shut off our special abilities for one thing, but recently we have found a way to deal with that and activate our real powers again. I would recommend you consider starting to get your real powers back as soon as possible, but there are...dangers to consider. I think your elder self would be the best one to talk to about that, though. He was one of the lead researchers on the project, after all.
Let me ask a simple question. Right now your real magic circuits and crest are sleeping. How do you think it will feel if they all activate again at the same time?
It did hurt. A lot. He...had a very rough few days.
[Diarmuid could tell Waver more, but he doesn't want to scare him unnecessarily.]
We worried he might even burn the crest and his circuits out with it all coming back at once, but hopefully since you are ten years younger it won't be so hard on you.
You're right. You're you, not him, but that doesn't mean I still can't believe in you.
[Diarmuid's voice is gentle as he speaks.]
He actually tells me often that it's kind of frustrating how much I believe in him, but I can't stop myself from believing the best of people. You will have to forgive me.
[A concerned look fills his eyes.]
Do you want me to see you back to your room to rest after all?
You're...you're the same with me. It's been nothing but irritating.
[Waver switched gears in a second to clear anger, though how much of that demeanor was genuine could be up for debate.]
Don't look at me like that. I don't need anyone falling all over themselves to believe in or follow my every word, and I don't need anyone taking care of me. Don't look at me like I'm some pitiful thing, and just leave me alone.
[He turned sharply and started to storm off, temper having been set off by something incredibly minor.]

[Waver simply gave Diarmuid a slight nod to signify he was still listening, opting to stay quiet for now.]

We're not...real? But how--how is that--?!

I think I get it. [He lowered his head slightly, starting to look sick again.]

I can handle it. I'm not a child, you know. I'm just...I'm just not feeling well, that's all!

Keep talking, if you want to.

[Diarmuid nods, not terribly surprised.]

[Diarmuid laughs.]
I am sure you can survive it too. Have some faith in yourself. I promise. It won't kill you.
no subject
I can't...there's no way I could handle pain like that.
no subject
Can I tell you a secret? He kept saying that and still made it. Believe me. If he did, you can too.

[Waver trailed off, shoulders taking on a slight tremble.]
I w-want this day to just be over...
