It's your birthday, so I am singing you 'Happy Birthday.' Is 29 when people start becoming senile now?
no subject
no subject
Why not? I hear all the cool young magi are doing it. You don't want to be a teacher who is behind the times now, do you?
no subject
no subject
Oh really? And you haven't shared this before now? That's terrible of you. You do remember this part of my legend right? I'm the only one who can undo those knots, so....
Why don't we have a little multiple choice test? If you pass, I'll let you go. If you don't...
[He leans forward and leers at Waver.]
I'll just have to experiment a little more and see exactly what you meant by that statement...
no subject
[Waver was fidgeting in a vain attempt to escape anyway, looking about as cornered as he felt.]
I don't r-really have a choice, so fine.
no subject
[Diarmuid reaches out and swats at Waver's arm to still his fidgeting.]
And knock that off. You know it's useless. Now here is your first question:
What is today?
a.) Tuesday.
b.) November something or the other.
c.) the day before I have a presentation due.
d.) someone's birthday.
no subject
no subject
Correct! Though, as you say, that was an easy one. Here is the next. It's not too hard either. We know my birthday is in April and it's most definitely not April, so whose birthday is it?
a.) Ismene's
b.) The Mercury Maid's
c.) Yours
d.) My brother's

I am not insulting your intelligence. I am making sure my point in clear. Here is the third question and it is much harder than the first two. What are you going to do today?
a.) relax at home and let yourself be babied.
b.) finish a project and then start another one.
c.) go into the Clock Tower and grade papers.
d.) smack a certain Lancer for tying you to your office chair and asking you stupid questions.
no subject
no subject
No.
no subject
Wh-why not?
no subject
The deal was if you answered the questions correctly, I would let you go. You didn't answer that last question correctly, so I'm not letting you go. Pretty simple really.
no subject
[How? He had no idea, but Waver was definitely plotting as fast as his clever little mind could work.]
no subject
I have heard that before. By all means, try. I have no other plans for today.
[To be honest, he had hoped he would be able to be helping Waver relax, but if the man was going to be stubborn, Diarmuid was going to be stubborn right back.]
no subject
[Which soon seemed to backfire; his escape attempt's only result was that he'd overbalanced the chair and fallen over.]
...ow. I think I broke something.
no subject
What hurts?
no subject
['I think I broke something' had been a very truthful statement. But what Waver had purposely failed to specify was what he'd broken. In fact, the vial he kept in the pocket of his jacket had fractured on impact--an impact which Diarmuid might have realized Waver intended from the moment he'd started his escape attempt.]
[If his clever knight hadn't pieced together just what the lecturer's plan entailed, the devilish grin on his face that just screamed 'gotcha' would have been a dead giveaway to Something Not Right.]
Fervor mei sanguis.
[The mercury shot out of his coat pocket and immediately took the form of the usual maid, who proceeded to make her best attempt at getting Diarmuid in a headlock.]
[You wanna fight dirty, we'll fight dirty.]
no subject
This is how you thank me for helping you? Mercury poisoning?
[Though spending the day cleaning up the office probably will be more relaxing than whatever else Waver has planned for the day.]
no subject
So are you going to admit defeat and untie me, or do we have to drag this out?
no subject
[Diarmuid stands from his crouch, looking a little less ready to move, but in no way actually being less ready to move.]
She and I could dance around each other all day and you would still be tied to that chair.
no subject
[where the hell did this come from and where is he going with it.]
no subject
Yes?
[What are you up to Waver?]
(no subject)
Gotta wonder with all the people he tied & left to die, why did no one think of cutting the rope?
logic's hard when the whole country's drunk?
I'd buy that....

You have no idea how bad the muse and I feel about doing that to Waver...
