[Waver took Diarmuid's hand with a quiet laugh, pulling him lightly out the door.] I've survived my own cooking for this long, so I seriously doubt you could do any real damage.

[Diarmuid laughs, looking kind of embarrassed.]

I don't know if I was as successful as I have been in the past.

Ah...it is not that so much that I worry about.

[Diarmuid runs a hand through his hair nervously.]

It's the state of the kitchen and the things in it. That is what I worry about. I am afraid after today there are a couple of bowls that will never be the same again.

[He actually hopes the smell of melted plastic is gone by the time they get back there.]

[He tried and failed to hold in a laugh at that, bringing a hand to his mouth in a token attempt at stifling it.]

S--sorry--I'm not laughing at you or anything, just...you're much too concerned about inconsequential things. I can replace that sort of thing easily.

Maybe it's not those inconsequential things I'm so worried about as it is the fact that it's embarrassing to have so many casualties for such a simple thing?

Why don't you have a seat, birthday boy and I will bring out the food. Since they are suppose to be some of your favorite breakfast things, hopefully at least something will be recognizable.

[Waver took a seat and leaned his head on his hand, watching Diarmuid with a small smile.]

[Diarmuid laughs softly as he gathers the food, but stops when he feels that smile on back and looks back at Waver.]

What? Am I not allowed to smile?

[Diarmuid returns to gathering the food and is soon setting some in front of Waver.]

It just worries me when it seems like there is a lot more going on than just that smile. What are you thinking behind it?

Hmm...I'm not sure if I should be relieved or disappointed you weren't taking the opportunity to admire other things.

[Diarmuid laughs and then motions toward the food.]

Well, your effort certainly isn't the only thing I've ever admired about you.

[Smirking, Waver took a bite; seeming pleased by the results, he leaned his head on his hand again.]

[Diarmuid props an elbow on the table and rests his chin in his hand, mimicking Waver's look.]

So...you going to tell me some of those other things you admire?

[Diarmuid covers his mouth to try and hide his laughter at the reaction, but it really doesn't do much good.]

Easy, Waver. It's not like I asked you if you were undressing me with your eyes or something...

[Beat.]

...I need to learn to keep my mouth shut.

[Diarmuid keeps laughing, though he does blush at the remark.]

It's okay. As long as it's you, I don't mind. I know you value me for more than just how I look.

[Waver immediately hid his face in both hands in a less than subtle attempt to conceal how much he was blushing.]

[Diarmuid stops laughing and reaches out to gently pull Waver's hands away from his face.]

So stop worrying. There's nothing wrong with admiring something that pleases you no matter what that something is.
