It's okay. As long as it's you, I don't mind. I know you value me for more than just how I look.

[Waver immediately hid his face in both hands in a less than subtle attempt to conceal how much he was blushing.]

[Diarmuid stops laughing and reaches out to gently pull Waver's hands away from his face.]

So stop worrying. There's nothing wrong with admiring something that pleases you no matter what that something is.

[Amusement twinkles in Diarmuid's eyes.]

Do you really think I would think that of you knowing what I know? You are not shallow and you could not be mindless if you tried.

Oh, am I now? And just what is so bloody attractive about me?

[He tries to mimic Waver's tone, but fails miserably.]

You aren't allowed to say everything either.

[Diarmuid pouts at him a moment before grinning again.]

Well if you won't tell me what you like so much about me, maybe I should just start talking about what I like about you instead?

Has your hearing suddenly gone bad? If you won't tell me what it is about me you think is so attractive, I will just have to fill the silence and tell you what I find attractive about you.

[Diarmuid reaches out and flips a lock of Waver's hair.]

It should be obvious from how much I mess with your hair that I like it. I don't know why exactly. I just do. I like your eyes too. You have become so good at hiding your emotions from people, but I can still see them there. Even when the rest of your face is schooled into stillness I can read them.

[Waver quickly averted his eyes at that, some measure of insecurity written all over his face.]

Y-you're delusional. There's nothing so special about my appearance.

Sure there is! Your eyes and hair are only a start.

[Diarmuid gently reaches out and takes a hold of Waver's chin to try and make the other man look at him again.]

Your form is straight and tall. There is strength in both your body and your presence. You may not be the best fighter out there, but you are not weak either. You have taken yourself and made the best of what you have. To me, that is more beautiful than the most perfectly formed face or body.

Diarmuid-...

[He reached up and closed both hands around one of Diarmuid's, glancing downward again.]

...quit it, will you? How am I supposed to react, hearing someone I l--admire speak so favorably about me?

[Diarmuid leans forward and places a soft kiss on the top of Waver's head.]

What you are suppose to do is accept the honest compliments and tuck them away for times when you need to hear that kind of thing. When the fight is harder than expected and you need a bit of extra strength or when you are feeling like you just aren't good enough and you need a reminder than you are better than they are.

...you're too nice to me. You always have been, you know that?

You realize I could say the exact same thing about you, right? You are far too kind to me as well. I don't know what I have done to deserve it most times. Slowly, I am coming to realize that is how things are. People can be nice to each other just because they want to be.

[fionnuisce]

I guess you're right. I just think...it's a little hard to accept, that's all.

I know. I feel the same way sometimes, but someone keeps telling me I need to just shut up and accept it.

[Diarmuid winks at Waver.]

We are both so very stubborn when it comes to trying to teach each other what we need to learn...

I thank all the gods and goddess from my home that you are so stubborn. We...would be much different if you were not.
