A while after the war was over I went to Ireland for a few months. I wouldn't mind going back sometime.

And now I have mental images of Diarmuid introducing Waver to Aengus...

I don't think I really need to say how much I want to go back there. I might not like how things have changed, but I still want to go. I would like to go back to the place where my home was and...

[He pauses a moment, eyes growing distant.]

[To maybe, what? He's not entirely sure. Maybe to say good bye to his father properly or maybe to say he's sorry for how things ended. In ether event, Diarmuid just knows he wants to go.]

[He blushes slightly though his expression is happy.]

That easily? I guess I just didn't want to be a burden. It seems selfish somehow to want to go back there when I know there is probably nothing left of the places I knew.

[Even so, he expects there are places like the gateway to his father's home and his home that he could find with his eyes closed no matter how much they have changed.]

If we were still in Fuyuki, it would be a little difficult. But we're not even that far right now, so it isn't any particularly long journey.

[Shrug.] I don't doubt for a second that it's different, naturally. But...it's not necessarily terrible. For what it's worth, I don't think it's selfish at all.

I know. I guess there is still part of me that thinks...

[He stops and shakes his head, laughing.]

Never mind. You said it wasn't selfish. For once, I am not going to argue with you about that kind of thing.

Was there another place you wanted to visit someday?

Nowhere in particular, honestly. I'd be happy to go wherever you liked.

That might be dangerous. Aside from the war and now, the only place I have been is Ireland. We might end up visiting there far more than you like.

[He laughs.]

Maybe we can just randomly pick someplace someday?

I'd never get tired of going somewhere that made you happy, you realize. But if you'd like to do that as well, I don't mind.

What is the expression they use now? Why don't we do all the things? Unless you are worried about the cost there is no reason we cannot do all of those things.

You make a compelling argument I have absolutely no reason to debate. I think that settles it.

Excellent! Now that one dilemma is settled, how about we settle another one? I suggested we could do two things to celebrate your birthday after you finished eating. One was going out to a park or something and just spending some time outside of this place for a bit and the other was staying in and watching a movie.

[Diarmuid grins at Waver.]

Which will it be, birthday boy? And I will remind you that the movie option comes with a free back rub included.
