Gotta wonder with all the people he tied & left to die, why did no one think of cutting the rope?
Ah well...failed again. I shouldn't be surprised. Since when do I do anything right?
[He spins the spear the best he can in this small space and turns the point toward himself.]
Let me rid you of my presence. It seems I have been out done by a mercury school girl. I cannot take the dishonor...
logic's hard when the whole country's drunk?
[Volumen Hydragyrum responded immediately--most likely out of some level of her owner's willpower rather than a verbal command--and shifted into a number of tendrils to wrap around his Noble Phantasm and pull it sharply backwards in the opposite direction.]
I'd buy that....
Apparently calling his Mystic Code something so silly as a 'mercury school girl' had not been enough to clue Waver in that Diarmuid was only joking.]
I...must be a better actor than I thought. I'm sorry. That was too far...
:|
[Every bit of color had drained from Waver's face and he'd shot out of the chair so quickly that it was lying on the floor behind him. One hand was unconsciously clutching at his chest to calm the magus' pounding heart as he tried to catch his breath and stop the nervous shaking that had set in.]
[Of course it had been a joke. Logic told him that much, but logic had been just a little too slow to kick in at the sight.]
Christ, don't joke about that. You scared me half to death.
You have no idea how bad the muse and I feel about doing that to Waver...
I'm sorry. I shouldn't have done that. I...just wasn't thinking straight. I got caught up in everything and... You know I won't ever leave you voluntarily. I swore that to you. I promised it to you. I didn't mean to...
[His voice drops off as he realizes he's babbling. Instead, he just holds Waver and hopes it will be enough.]
HAPPY BIRTHDAY HERE'S YOUR HEART ATTACK :V
[He was speaking to himself as much as to Diarmuid, inwardly berating himself for falling apart at the slightest provocation. Taking a deep breath he forced himself to at least sound calmer, if he couldn't quite steady his nervous shaking or heart racing.]
That was stupid of me. I just-...please don't do that again, alright? I shouldn't have lost it like that--I'm on edge in general lately, I guess. There's way too much I need to plan for and not much time left to do it.
At least it's a unique gift? X.x
[He squeezes Waver tighter.]
But the things you say. The being on edge and the overreacting. They are why you have to take a break now. I know you have a lot to get done and not a lot of time to do it, but if you are fighting yourself and how tired your body is you aren't going to get anywhere.
Please. It is just one day. Spend some time with me. Let saving the world wait.

[Sighing, he wrapped his arms around Diarmuid's waist.]
Tell me what you'd like to do, then. And it can't involve tying me to anything again, got it?
no subject
[Diarmuid is tempted to add "unless you ask me to" as a joke to lighten the mood, but he doesn't since his sense of humor--or lack thereof--has already gotten him in trouble today. Instead, he presses a kiss to Waver's forehead.]
Well, there is breakfast waiting and then I thought maybe we could just go walking and see where that takes us. If you would rather stay in, we could always curl up on the couch and watch one of those movies you keep telling me I should see. And maybe at some point you will let me give you a back rub. I am sure you could use one. What do you think? Does any of that sound good?

If you want the disgustingly sentimental truth...I'm happy just being with you. That's all it takes.
no subject
[Diarmuid sighs and shakes his head.]
Though, I can't really argue it either since being around you makes me happy too.
no subject
[Laughing softly, he leaned his forehead against Diarmuid's.]
Hey...don't I get any credit for outsmarting you this time? That wasn't a bad way to improvise on my part, if I can say so myself.
no subject
[He grins at Waver.]
As for that... I am torn as to if I should give you credit or not. After all, you rather changed the rules of the game. The point was to undo the knots, not cut the rope. In fact, such an escape might have been considered dishonorable back in my day.

You make it sound like that's a bad thing. I don't know if I can consider it winning the actual game if you bend the rules... It's a different game then.

[He reaches out and, with a grin, pats Waver on the head.]
We will just say I let you win because it was your birthday. How's that?
no subject
[He smirked, more than a little mischievously.]
...So what did I win?
no subject
I don't know. What do you want to win?
no subject

Do you mean... I didn't think...
Really?

N-No! It's just that we haven't talked about anything like this for a while and...
Oh, forget it!
[Have one rather hard and insistent kiss, Waver.]
