Edit: Closing this one out for now. Please put all new threads here! Thanks! Fifth verse same as the first... It's new 'Call Me Out" Time!
【the ❝CALL ME OUT❞ meme】 V a roleplay meme to inspire muses.
♛ refer to the list above for active muses. ♛ post "calling" one of them out — you can do so by putting their name journal in the subject line! (I have too many Lancers to just go by name! X.x ) ♛ can be informal/formal/comment spam/crosscanon/explicit/whatever tickles your fancy! ♛ feel free to make up a scenario at the start, or wait to see where things go.
No, but you will like her. I will make sure to introduce you soon. As you might have guessed from my question, she is here too.
[His expression grows more serious as he thinks over what Lancer is saying.]
I realize this might seem strange to you, but the version of the War you and Waver come from is very different from the one most of us here came from. The masters you know do not match the servants you think they should. For example, have no pity for Caster's master as he is here for he is just as murderous and sadistic as Caster is. They are truly a terrible pair.
As for Berserker's master--the one Waver so fears--in most worlds it is not Berserker he summons. It...is Lancer.
...Surely you aren't serious. As though we were meant to reply to such a cowardly and thoughtless Master? I'd sooner part with my own arm than spare a thought to anything someone like that would say.
[Diarmuid gives him a narrow-eyed look, hand unconsciously rising to rub at his chest. Of course, the pain he feels there now has nothing to do with his still healing wound...]
Don't waste your time trying to imagine it. It's not worth the effort.
[Diarmuid lets his hand drop from his chest.]
You are one of the lucky ones. I have been honored to have Waver devote so much time to putting me back together over the last year. He...had a lot of damage to repair. It seems, some things even the most diehard loyalty and steadfast hope cannot accomplish.
...I'm sorry. My Master has never been anything but undeservedly kind to me; imagining an alternative seems...unbearable.
N-never mind. As long as that person isn't here, my main concern is no longer an issue. Could you tell me more of how he is now, rather than listen to me talk about how I know him?
As I said, don't imagine it. I am better now thanks to him and the rest of the people who have become my family here. You're right. We should talk of better things. The past is something no amount of talk will change.
[He waves for Lancer to follow him toward the stairs.]
I would like to think he is resting in his room, but I know him better than that. He is likely in the Laboratory again working or just avoiding sleeping since he seems to have developed a hatred for it.
[Diarmuid rolls his eyes, exasperated.]
At least the him being undeservedly kind part hasn't changed, even if he doesn't agree with me. I don't think I deserve all he has done for me. But, you know that feeling...
Don't look so sad. I've found a way to deal with it. Just be kind back. It drives him crazy, but eventually he sees the point...even it if might take a bit. I don't know so well how he was before, but there are ten years of walls to work though now. It can take some time, but it's worth it in the end.
Truly, I can't say I know him well even now. There are a few things I know about my Master and others I've merely guessed at, but it wouldn't be my place to simply ask him about such matters directly.
To be entirely truthful, I...would like to get to know him better than I do now. It seems as though my Master is a very private individual who covers instability with shouting. ...Lots of shouting.
I have to admit, I am afraid that I am a little addicted to it now. There are times I find myself saying something I know will make him react that way, just so I can see it.
[Diarmuid shakes his head and starts walking again.]
But, it is better than seeing him hide behind the ten years of walls he has built around himself. That emotion--exaggerated as it might be--is genuine at least and not a mask.
No one is all right here. We've seen too much and had to do too much...
[Diarmuid bows his head slightly, eyes closing for a moment before he continues.]
We survive and support each other the best we can. I think he is learning to live again and that is the important thing even if life here isn't...well, it's interesting anyway.
[Diarmuid drops an arm around his double. He expects the other Lancer to pull away, but he does it anyway.]
Do me a favor and stop that. I fully realize how hard what I am asking is, but it's not helping you and it's not helping him. Blame yourself only for things that are your fault, not for things you cannot control. He wouldn't be alive nor would he be the man he is without you. You did everything you could for the time you had together.
We...don't have a lot of time left. Don't waste any of the time you will have with him now blaming yourself for what cannot be changed.
Whether you win or lose hasn't been decided yet. Remember, no matter how similar they seem, your world and his are different.
[Diarmuid reaches out and places a gentle hand over Lancer's fidgeting ones.]
And win or lose, you did accomplish something. You changed his life and you gave him the strength to start a very noble quest, a quest that has to be done, a quest that will protect and save so many people. All because of you.

Do I lie?

...My condolences. I must say I am having difficulty imagining being summoned by anyone else.

[Lancer followed a few steps behind, again seeming a little downcast.]
It is something I have grown accustomed to, yes.

[Diarmuid's expression becomes more serious.]
I know it is probably hard, but try. He needs a friend more than a servant. He has spent so much time alone...

Yes...he is a master of overreaction, isn't he? It's...cute.
no subject
[The smallest smile twitched across Lancer's face at that, hand brought to his mouth to stop from laughing.]
It's endearing in its own strange way, I think.

Is it truly that bad? What I mean to say is...he's alright, isn't he?

[Lancer froze up for a moment, hands starting to fidget nervously.]
If he lived through the war, then...we must have won, did we not? So I must have been able to accomplish something of worth, surely.
no subject
[Diarmuid reaches out and places a gentle hand over Lancer's fidgeting ones.]

...I don't understand what you mean. What is it he's set out to do?
no subject
He's going to destroy it. Before it destroys anything else or hurts anyone else.
no subject
But that's--is that even possible? How could anyone...?
no subject
[Diarmuid gives Lancer a determined look.]
When he and I go home to his world, we have a lot of work to do.
