I have no clue!

[Diarmuid laughs, giving up on trying to understand and just watching what is happening.]

I never had to fight anything like this when I fought Above.

[beforetights]

That's right. Angels never have anything stinky, do they?

[oathshackledbird]

[Diarmuid laughs.]

I would not say never, but it is rarer Above. After all, it is suppose to be a paradise.

[beforetights]

Really? Who was the person who made the most stinky stuff in Heaven then?

[His interest in the television show is all but gone by now.]

[Diarmuid seems to contemplate this for a while before answering.]

I don't know if I would say it was a person that left the stinky stuff, but more like events. For example, the whole area would seem depressed, dirtied, and 'stinky' so to speak whenever we had to fight something--monsters, evil spirits, whatever. Above is suppose to be a place of peace, not war and when we are forced to fight it leaves things unsettled and 'stinky.'

[beforetights]

[He nods.]

So everything becomes stinky when you fight the monsters. That's very mean of them. To attack heaven and mess things up.

[oathshackledbird]

To put it simply, yes, but that is what they live for...the monsters. Like it was my job to fight them, it was their job to try and ruin things Above.

[Diarmuid frowns slightly.]

Of course, it seems it's not only the monsters we should have been watching out for...

[beforetights]

You mean, like the people who blamed you for things you didn't do? Was it because they liked the monsters better? Or did the monsters put a spell on them?

[oathshackledbird]

I...don't know.

[Sadness and confusion fill his eyes.]

As terrible as it might be, I think they just decided they wanted to do those things themselves. The monsters had nothing to do with it.

[beforetights]

[He pouts.]

Well, that's not right. They can't call themselves the good guys or angels if they do that.

[oathshackledbird]

It is hard to explain. I suppose people define good in different ways and Above does try to allow for that...

[He looks ashamed suddenly.]

I guess I was not considered 'good' enough.

[beforetights]

But you're already very nice and--

[He's cut off by the noises from the TV. The Power Rangers are already in their final battle with their monster of the episode. He quickly turns back to the show.]

Come on, Ranger! You can do it! Win!

[Diarmuid can't help but be relieved when the TV distracts the boy from his questions. It would be easy for him to say that what Setanta said is true--that he is nice--but deep down he doesn't believe that is true.

If it was, the others wouldn't have turned on him like they did, would they?]

And now they fight a giant...sock monster? If they win will that mean they have defeated the stinky sock menace once and for all?

[beforetights]

Yeah, as soon as the monster blows up, then everything bad it did goes away.

That is convenient. So everyone is saved then...

[Diarmuid watches quietly as a really silly fight between a giant sock monster and a giant robot takes place before his eyes.]

And there it goes... No more stinky socks.

[beforetights]

Yep, the Power Rangers saved everyone.

[He looks over at Diarmuid.]

What about in Heaven? Do the monsters' mess disappear?

[oathshackledbird]

Not so easily as things were fixed there.

[He nods toward the TV with his head.]

We have to fix whatever is damaged during those kinds of fights. That is why we have magic like what I used to fix up your room right after I arrived. Of course, fixing up your room was much easier than fixing any battle location I have helped to repair.

[beforetights]

[His eyes go wide.]

Wow, cool! Then, what was the very biggest...

[He holds his arms out to symbolize how big the mess would be.]

...mess you had to clean?

[Actually, not so cool since those battles always led to so much pain and destruction, but Diarmuid doesn't hold the child's excitement against him since the angel knows that it is Setanta's innocence talking.]

Can you imagine a battle so large that the giant monster and robot that we just saw fighting seem very small? Like your size? That is the size of a battle I was once in.

[beforetights]

[His mouth drops open.]

That must have been a really huge battle! How did you beat the monster?

[oathshackledbird]

It was and we almost didn't win.

[Diarmuid falls quiet for a moment, remembering the battle and all those who had fallen during it.]

So many of our fellows died and then one of our commanders...he sacrificed himself so that the monster's vulnerability would be left open. We were able to defeat it, but at great cost...

[beforetights]

Sacrifice...? You mean he...died? And didn't come back? That's very sad. Were you sad because of it?

[oathshackledbird]

[Diarmuid nods sadly.]

That is it exactly. He died so that no more of our brothers would. He is not gone forever, but he will be gone for a long time. Angels who die in battle like that are reborn here on Earth and live a human life. Only once they die after their human life, do they return to their friends and family Above.

We were all sad for his loss. He was a great leader and skilled fighter. Above will not be nearly so great a place until he returns.

[beforetights]

[He crawls over and gives Diarmuid a hug.]

Do you think we can find him here? Maybe we can look for him and your family.

[oathshackledbird]

Perhaps we could look for him, but he would not look as he did when I last saw him and he would not remember being an angel. I'm not sure what good finding him would do.

[Diarmuid pauses to think for a moment before shaking his head.]

I am not sure what age he might even be. Time moves differently here than it does Above.
