[Diarmuid bends down and ruffles Setanta's hair gently.]

That is very kind of you. Don't worry. Every bit of your kindness makes up for two bits of her being mean. Niceness is stronger than meanness any day!

[He quickly cheers up.]

[He turns back to the cartoons.]

Do you wanna go out now? Or do you wanna watch more cartoons?

Cartoons will be on again another day, but today is great for going outside. And wasn't someone all excited about going outside? Have you changed your mind?

[He stares at the TV, then looks to the door.]

[He runs over to the door.]

Come on, Mr. Der-mood. Let's go to the park!

[Diarmuid laughs, following him more slowly to the door.]

By all means, then, to the park we go. Is there anything you want to take? Toys or...?

[Diarmuid winks at the boy.]

[He holds the door open for Diarmuid]

[Diarmuid can't help but chuckle at the boy's enthusiasm. It makes him feel very good as it has so many times before. He exits the house and then waits for Setanta to join him since he doesn't know the way to the park.]

Well...here's hoping that this toy doesn't let you down. He would feel very bad about that.

[He starts walking in the direction of the park.]

[He reaches out and ruffles the boy's hair as they walk.]

What will you want to do first when we get to the park?

Hm...maybe the slides? We could take turns catching each other!

The slides would be a good place to start, though I am probably a little big for you to try and catch.

[Diarmuid smiles at the boy.]

However, I will be glad to catch you as many times as you like!

[Diarmuid can't help but laugh at the boy's confidence.]

[He skips down the road and turns a few corners, trusting Diarmuid to follow.]

[Diarmuid follows the boy quietly until they get close enough to the park that it becomes visible.]

[He peers around.]

Nobody's here yet, so let's hurry up and play!

[He runs toward the slide.]

A stroke of luck, I would say.

[Diarmuid follows the boy to the slide, positioning himself toward the end.]

I'm ready to catch you whenever you are ready to come down!

[He giggles and scrambles up the stairs so he can get on the slide.]

Alright, here I come!

[And he come sliding down.]

[Near the end of the slide, Diarmuid catches the boy and swings him up into the air. He laughs and then play growls at the boy.]

A monster has got you! How ever will you escape?

[He gives a high pitched giggle.]

He better not try to eat me! I'll bop him in the nose if he does!

Ah ha, but can you reach his nose!

[Diarmuid laughs a rather campy villain-like laugh.]

Face it, you are helpless now, hero!

[As if to prove the point, Diarmuid swings the boy around in a circle.]

[He makes a sound halfway between a giggle and a shriek.]

Then I'll howl at him! Everyone knows monsters are afraid of loud noises!
