So...is that permission for me to dream about you?
no subject
[She's gone red again.]
no subject
Did you ever stop to think the only thing I meant was that I would be dreaming of what a glorious battle one between us would be? If anything, since you are the one who twisted things that way, perhaps I should be asking if you are the pervert.
no subject
[She's actually touched, knowing that a hero whose legends were widespread during her time would crave a glorious duel with her. However, this goes back to anger when she remembers a time when she had thought like that.]
How stupid, to crave your own demise like that. You propose glorious battle to all your opponents, and you have no idea if they will respond to your challenge in kind.
no subject
[Diarmuid's expression grows more serious.]
However, I would rather assume the best than expect the worst. Hopefully, most of those who I would be challenging would respect the fight enough to follow the rules of an honorable battle. If not...
[He shrugs.]
...I have fought whole armies before with nothing but my weapons and wits. If they wish not to play fair, I am experienced in that field as well. I merely prefer a more honorable fight.
no subject
[She sighs and shakes her head.]
...When you are one of the last people who should be speaking like that.
no subject
[Diarmuid crosses his arms over his chest again.]
I know there are people who will try to take advantage of my beliefs, but there will be others who will not. I won't let those who would rather live in dishonor change how I live and how I view others. Those who choose dishonor over honor should not have that kind of power over me or anyone else.
no subject
[She bites her lip. She almost wants to start screaming again due to the mix of pity and anger that she feels.]
...Can I hold you to that promise, Ua Duibhe?
[Instead, what comes out is a quiet murmur.]
That no matter what happens, you'll keep that stupidly naive view of yours. That no matter how many times you're hurt and betrayed, you'll always keep to that path of chivalry?
[That he would do what she couldn't do...]
no subject
[He stops a moment to think through his words before continuing.]
However, this is such a part of me I don't know if it even needs a promise for me to carry it out. Quite honestly, if I ever lose that--if I ever stop following the path of chivalry--then I won't be me anymore. At that point, the only promise I would be looking for an answer to would be one from someone who would be willing to release me from that miserable state.
no subject
[She closes her eyes and gives him a tiny smile.]
You're still better than the rest of that rotten lot who use every opportunity to parade their "chivalry."
no subject
[Who knew trying to kick someone in the crotch was considered honorable...]
Chivalry should not be paraded. It is not a horse or some kind of fine weapon. It is a way of living and acting. You show what it means to you by acting according to its rules not by speaking of it. So many...
[He sighs and shakes his head.]
...they just don't understand that.
no subject
[If her face were to get any redder, then it would probably be exploding in blood.]
But...those who try to live by chivalry...to act by it. Even they betray others and are betrayed in turn. Just look at what happened between me and Father.
[She spits that last word out like a curse.]
no subject
If I were to complain that the world was not fair, you would probably hit me and call me a fool, but the truth of the matter is that it is not fair. Fate shuffles us according to her own will, not ours and a great many of us end up doing things we would not do if given another choice or placed in a different situation. That is why second chances are so important even ones limited by time or rules we don't agree with. For all we know, Fate may again twist us to her whims instead of our own, but until then we can fight and be what we want to be.
Give me no reason to doubt you, Saber and I will not doubt. It is only once you have given me reason here and now that I will.
no subject
...Fool. And this is why you're better than anyone else. Try not to stop fighting as long as you have a chance.
no subject
If it makes you feel any better, I don't intend to. If I do that, someone else might end up being the one to fight you in that glorious battle and that wouldn't do.
no subject
[A pause.]
And yeah, you heard right. I'm gonna kill you the way a knight would. Because you're worth that much.
no subject
I accept your challenge. In fact, I look forward to it.
no subject
[She starts stumbling off in the direction that they had just escaped from. Hopefully, her healing would have finished up by then.]
no subject
I know you wish to fight him now, but you are weakened. He is an honorable opponent even if his mind has been stripped away. He deserves to fight you at your full strength, does he not? I think for now this fight should be at an end. You will heal fully soon enough. Look forward to crossing blades with him then.
no subject
Only if you too shall not pursue him. Remember our promise.
no subject
I remember. I have no intention of going after him behind your back.
[He pauses, looking off to the side and pressing his lips into a frown.]
Unless my master forces me to attack. If so, I will try to resist, but...
no subject
[She smirks.]
Then it is a good thing your Master seems to like Berserker. Or at least, he like him better than he likes me.
no subject
My master cares about no one but himself and his own ambitions. He...
[He pauses and shakes his head again.]
Never mind. He is still my master. I should not speak of him like that.
no subject
[Lancer's Master was bad, but hers was worse. He would barely even talk to her.]
no subject
He does not want me. He lays claim to me only because he has no other. If he had the chance to take another servant, he would be rid of me before I even knew what happened. I mean nothing to him.
