[Diarmuid runs his fingers through the ponytail again.]

...but now it's like water running through my fingers...

I'm glad you approve. [Calming down from his chicken-related episode, Waver leaned into Diarmuid's hand with a small smile.] I figured you might benefit from this little act of thievery as well.

Oh, I very much approve.

[In fact, he will be quite sad once the conditioner's effects fade. Diarmuid might even have to consider 'borrowing' the bottle again from Sephiroth.]

I could stay here all day just playing with it...

You should. You deserve a break, you know. Let me admire the fruits of your labors...

Just this once, I suppose a break wouldn't kill me. It's hard to argue when I enjoy that admiration so much.

[Diarmuid motions for Waver to follow him over to the bed so they can sit down.]

I don't suppose you, in your great thieving escapades, managed to acquire a comb, did you?

I'm afraid not. [He sat down next to Diarmuid with a quiet laugh, looking thoroughly amused by his friend's reaction.] You can survive without that, can't you?

It's terrible. I will just have to comb it with my fingers instead.

[He sighs in such a put out manner...]

A horrible, horrible fate let me assure you.

You poor, deprived thing. However will you cope?

Well...maybe if you let me take it down and braid it?

[There is a hopeful look in Diarmuid's eyes.]

Also...there is this little matter we discussed once before. Remember me mentioning finding a way to curl my brother's hair? That still needs to be done...

Hm...that's right. [Waver considered the idea, untying his hair as he did.]

I wonder, there must be some easy way to do it.

Why do you think I asked you? Surely you know something or maybe someone with a curling iron?

[Once Waver is done letting his hair down, Diarmuid slides closer to him so that he can start playing with braiding it.]

A spell of some kind would be ideal, but I do recall you saying you didn't know anything like that.

I certainly don't own one--maybe if Edelfelt were here, I'm sure she has one of near-legendary proportions.

[He shrugged, leaning back slightly and enjoying Diarmuid's attention to his hair.]

[Diarmuid carefully sections Waver's hair so that the braids will be even once he starts. He almost mentions how he would do this for his daughter, but something tells him Waver might not react to it well.]

I don't suppose we are lucky enough that 'He of the Glorious Conditioner' had one, are we?

[He has no idea why Sephiroth would, but he would never have pegged the guy for having such excellent taste in conditioner either.]

If he does, I'm sure as hell not opening his trunk with that monstrosity in it to find out.

[Diarmuid laughs softly as he starts to braid one section of Waver's hair.]

Don't worry. If it comes down to it, I will find some way to protect you from the feathered menace. If nothing else, I should be able to out run it.

Chicken or Hellbeast it may be, but Lancer it is not.

[Diarmuid finishes one braid, tucking up the ends carefully so it doesn't unravel while he works on the next one.]

I will out run it.

If you're trying to impress me, you really don't need to.

If you honestly think a hellbent chicken can defeat me, I would say the opposite. I haven't been doing enough to impress you lately.

Defeat, no. Give a good run for your money, maybe.

[If Diarmuid's hand's weren't so busy braiding Waver's hair, he would probably be rubbing the bridge of his nose right now, but since they are, he just sighs instead.]

Waver, do Mac an Chuill and I need to come and stay in your room so that you feel safe?

Wh--d-don't treat me like a kid! I'm not crazy, the thing is evil!

Did you ever stop to think I'm not treating you like a kid and am instead just looking for a good reason to have a sleep over so I can play with your hair some more?
