I wasn't aware I apparently had a trend of saying things I don't mean. [The sarcasm is strong with this one.] When did I start doing that?

How about when you said I was smothering you? Especially since you say now that you 'might not have minded it as much as you let on'?

In hindsight, I'd rather have you smothering me than not have you around at all. How's that?

[Diarmuid smiles, finishing the third braid.]

I guess I can accept that.

[He gathers the three braids together and starts to carefully twist and twin them into a rather complex and beautiful knot that rests lightly on the rest of Waver's hair once he's done.]

Too bad we don't have a mirror...

What if it is less about trust and more about me wanting to show off my handiwork?

Oh--so it's a matter of pride, is it? Maybe I shouldn't be surprised.

[Diarmuid frowns slightly, though there is a twinkle in his eyes.]

I know I haven't done much recently to be proud of--certainly nothing like defeating an evil chicken or stealing someone's hair care products--but I do have a few talents to take pride in.

I'm always proud of you regardless. Not to say that's worth very much, but it's something.

Waver, keep saying things like that and I am going to start wondering if I pulled those braids too tight and accidentally cut off the blood flow to your brain...

Well...maybe I'll accept it when the planets are aligned and your hair is really soft and shiny...

I do believe I just heard you say "Stop talking and play with my hair, you idiot," so don't mind me if I do just that. It would be terrible of me to ignore such a direct order...

[Diarmuid grins at Waver and then returns to messing with the man's hair.]

[Diarmuid sighs contentedly, happy to focus on playing with Waver's hair for however long the magus lets him. Or until he falls asleep which has happened more than once when Diarmuid was playing with his hair...]

Since neither of us seem to be going anywhere for a while, is there anything else you would like to tell me? Oh I don't know, like if I need to be aware of any other raging hell beasts that might show up from your past?

Just how many chickens are we talking? Or don't I want to know?

[He frowns slightly at the mention of Caster.]

You realize he probably has some of them, right? Not the big one, of course, but I would be very surprised if he didn't have the ability to call at least a few of the smaller ones.

Let's discuss this as little as possible before I have detailed flashbacks I'd rather forget.

[Diarmuid starts to actually lightly massage Waver's scalp as if he is trying to relax away those bad memories.]

What do you think? Would you want to play with my hair if I got into that conditioner? I know it's not that long, but...you never know. It might finally get this bang of mine to behave...

[Waver curled the offending few strands around his finger with a smirk, lightly tugging on it.]
