Alright. But they're not gonna be boring forms, are they?

What have I told you? You have to learn the basics so that you can properly build up from them. That doesn't change, one weapon or two.
no subject
[He goes back to an upright stance.]
So what stance do we practice first?
no subject
[Diarmuid demonstrates what he means before continuing.]
I then want you to lean forward until you start feeling unbalanced. Once you do, hold yourself there as long as you can. Understand?
no subject
Woah!
[He falls on his butt within one minute.]
Um...something got in my eye! Let me try that again!
no subject
Try as many times as you need to. It will eventually get easier. I promise.

[His brother's encouragement makes everything seem much less tedious. Once again, he tries to balance. This time, he lasts a few more minutes.]
[Instead of complaining, he gets up and repeats the balancing after he falls.]
no subject
Don't push yourself too hard. Once you think you have reached your limit, we can take a break and then work on something else. We should probably use this as part of each training bout for a while to make sure we get that balance under control.
no subject
[Right now, he's balanced for about five minutes.]
How long have I stood? How long did you stand when you first do it?
no subject
[Diarmuid falls silent for a moment and then shakes his head.]
I am afraid I can't remember how long it was my first time. That was a long time ago.
[And during a period of time which has been altered by a memory spell. Oops.]

An hour is a long time. You will likely be too tired to do anything else if you do it for that long. Besides, I probably didn't last more than 10 or so minutes my first time.
[Of course, Diarmuid had been much younger than his brother when he first learned this, so...]
no subject
[He falls silent and continues to stand.]
no subject
[Diarmuid could remain quiet and let his brother focus, but he has a feeling the boy will get bored if he does that. Besides, talking will help the time pass faster.]
no subject
[He wobbles a little, but catches himself.]
no subject
Do you need me to stop talking so you can focus?
no subject
[His hand twitches.]
no subject
[Diarmuid takes note of the twitching hand.]
Just a minute or two more. Can you make it?
no subject
[He would nod, but he's trying to keep his balance.]
I'm good at focusing on attacking! Then it doesn't matter how many distractions there are.
no subject
[Diarmuid steps closer to his brother and puts his hand on the boy's head, adding some unexpected weight to see if Cu Chulainn can keep his balance through it.]
Just a minute more.
no subject
But what if I'm too fast and I put a sword through them first?
no subject
[Diarmuid removes his hand from his brother's head, proud that the boy kept his balance even if it was a struggle.]
Your time is up! Very well done.
no subject
Hooray! I did it! I did it! Now show me another move!
no subject
Those are your partners. Don't treat them like that.
no subject
[He quickly scrambles to pick up his swords again.]
Sorry...I got excited.
