I am glad for that. [Sometimes the best you could hope for was that life had meaning, even if it was short.] He is a great child, and I am certain having met you that he will grow to be a great man.

[Diarmuid looks down for a moment, blushing ever so slightly.]

I do my best, but I am by no means perfect. I just do what I believe to be right.

You have good instincts. Unless you have changed a lot from when you are a child. He is good at knowing the right thing to do.

I...would not say that I have changed, at least not in that way.

[Diarmuid frowns slightly.]

It is merely that the choices have gotten harder. Sometimes now, there is no real 'right' answer.

I am glad for that. [He nods, understanding that far too well.] There never is, right answers don't really exist.

I don't know if I would say that. Things were much simpler when I first lived. Black and white. It was easy to know what to do back then. Well, unless the Fae were involved but that is another story completely.

[He laughs a little sadly.]

The modern world is different. Everything is so much more complex. As you say, there is no clear right answer sometimes. I do not like it. It has caused me to hurt people when I did not mean to. I just did not know better.

[He nodded, understanding that far too well] I am sorry. I can't really give you much advice though, I am no expert in not harming people.

[Diarmuid waves a hand.]

It is all right. I'm not asking for any advice. Believe me, I have already been given much advice on the topic. Right now, I need to decide what parts of that advice I wish to make my own.

[Which is to say, he needs to finally make a decision about what it is he wants to believe.]

I understand that. [It was sometimes hard to make advice fit your problem] I wish you luck in it.

Since you know a version of me, even just a young one, you will know luck is something I can always use more of.

Yes. Diarmuid is not the luckiest...

[Diarmuid smiles, though when he says that. It seems he's gotten used to the bad luck. In as much as one can anyway.]

Blessed with many skills, but not with luck. I guess no one can have it all, though.

I guess not. He does well despite the luck though.

[Diarmuid smiles, before getting a curious look on his face. That look...probably looks familiar to Suzaku.]

You haven't really told me yet. What is the world you two live in like?

[swordofzero]

It's... alright. It's a city that had ran into some energy trouble, so they have brought us there to help.

We have to generate power by physical touch, hugging, holding hands, things like that. No one has hurt us though and apart from the fact we can't go home we are not prisoners.

[Diarmuid repeats what he has been told, questioningly, and then smiles.]

He must be in heaven. If there is something he loves, it is hugging others and being hugged in return.

Yes, he finds the work very easy. [Unlike Suzaku]

And probably makes it just a little easier for ones like you, yes?

[He knows you, Suzaku. Or, at least a version of you.]

Good, that will make him happy.

[Diarmuid can't help but grin. It makes him feel good to know that not only does his younger self have Suzaku to watch out for him, he is there to help Suzaku through whatever pain he is facing.]

Do you know what trouble he gets himself into when he's not setting things on fire and giving hugs?

I can only imagine. [He frowned] He lives with his brother and two giant fluff balls they claim are dogs. I live near them though, I try to keep them out of the worst of trouble.]

For that I am glad. He means well, but if I have issues as an adult with the modern world, I can only guess at how confused he must be.

[Diarmuid laughs softly.]

Why am I not surprised they have dogs of their own?

They bought them not long ago. They take good care of them, and I am not sure who gets into the most mischief.

The simple answer to that? All of the above. If it's not one, it is the other.

[A distant look suddenly fills Diarmuid's eyes.]

It is good he is getting this chance to just be a child...
