Most people would call that 'spite', I think. Anyone would be angry or distrustful after that.

[Waver rested his hand over Diarmuid's own, sighing.]

I know it's difficult and you might not know where to start, but you can trust me. Sure, I'm not perfect, but I'll give everything I have trying not to let you down.

I know you won't! I know it! Every part of me believes that...except that part.

[Diarmuid turns away, ashamed.]

I don't know what it is. Hate. Anger. Spite. I just want it gone...but I know it never will be. Not now that it's awake. I don't think I can go back to how I was before no matter how much I want to.

It's alright. Really, Diarmuid...it's okay. I understand it's not an easy thing to deal with. But feeling all of that isn't something to be ashamed of and it doesn't make you less of a good person. It just means you're human the same as I am.

Being human...am I really allowed to be that?

[Diarmuid would like to be. He's always been something else before now. A knight. A hero. A Servant. All of those things have always required him to be more than human or in some cases forget what it is to be human all together.]

I want to be. I have been trying to be...

[But deep down in that dark part of himself, he's still not sure if he is allowed to be...]

[Waver planted a light kiss to Diarmuid's forehead, laughing softly.]

I should say that if the second Lord El-Melloi can let himself be human once in a while, you're more than allowed to as well.

[Diarmuid laughs lightly himself.]

Yes, I guess you are right. I want to be human, but at the same time I want to have focus I need to help others...

[He gives Waver a gentle look.]

...to help you. Sometimes I fear I will never find that balance.

You will. I'm sure of it.

[He curled up against Diarmuid's side with a contented sigh, arms wrapped securely around his friend's waist.]

Even if I should believe in nothing else, I have absolute faith in you.

[One of Diarmuid's hands threads its way into Waver's hair while the other rests over the hands at his waist..]

I am never going to stop trying. One day I will see your faith rewarded. I promise.

I know, Diarmuid. All I could ever ask is that you try the best you can and never give up. You can do that for me, right?

Of course. You don't even need to ask.

[Diarmuid leans down to place a gentle kiss on Waver's forehead.]

We have too much to do for me to ever give up.

Yeah...we both do.

[He leaned his head on Diarmuid's shoulder, closing his eyes.]

It's alright. We're unstoppable as long as we're together, so there's nothing to worry about no matter how hard things might get.

[The hand in Waver's hair strokes it gently for a few moments before Diarmuid finally speaks.]

Yes, though I think what we should probably do together right now is try and get some more sleep. What do you think?

Mm...you're right. I'm sorry to have woken you in the first place.

[Diarmuid gives Waver a stern look.]

Don't be sorry. You know you can wake me whenever you need to. Honestly, seeing your memories is a lot better than seeing my own sometimes. Especially with how this place twists things. I just wish you would get to see some of my happier memories. There are some. I promise.

I know there are. I'm sure I have one or two myself, somewhere.

You know, instead of just randomly waiting for them to be shared, we probably should just talk about them sometime...

You probably wouldn't want to listen to mine. Most of what I have is sure to be terribly boring.

[Diarmuid raises an eyebrow at him.]

Oh? Prove it then.

Right now? I thought we were supposed to be sleeping.

[Diarmuid shrugs.]

We could be. Or we could tell each other stories to try and drive away the bad memories. I will leave it up to you since you are the one who actually needs to have sleep.

I guess talking couldn't really hurt. I'd just have to think of something that isn't too boring.

[Diarmuid ruffles Waver's hair gently.]

You try too hard. Just think of one of your happiest memories and share it with me.

...actually I think that's a little easier said than done.

[Diarmuid gives him a curious look.]
