Right now? I thought we were supposed to be sleeping.

[Diarmuid shrugs.]

We could be. Or we could tell each other stories to try and drive away the bad memories. I will leave it up to you since you are the one who actually needs to have sleep.

I guess talking couldn't really hurt. I'd just have to think of something that isn't too boring.

[Diarmuid ruffles Waver's hair gently.]

[Sadness enters Diarmuid's eyes and the hand that had been over Waver's hands at his waist, reaches up to stroke his face.]

It's all right. I know you weren't. That doesn't change the fact I need to start adding to that good memory stash of yours.

Considering that memory I dumped on you, I think you deserve a few good ones to make up for it!

I think most if not all of the happy memories I can think of probably involve you in one way or another.

Depends. Do you realize it makes me happy just to talk to you every day?

[Diarmuid's expression makes it clear he did not realize that.]

Just something like that? It's not like I'm a great conversationalist or anything...

But you listen when I speak, as if everything I might say is important. You correct me when I'm wrong without making me feel like a brainless idiot, and even when we contradict each other we don't have much in the way of arguments.

There's no way around it--we work well together, and that makes me happy.

Considering it is my goal to make you happy, you have no idea how pleased I am to hear that.

[Diarmuid suddenly grins.]

Who says what you say isn't important? You are the man who is going to dismantle the Grail. That's no small feat! Obviously, all your words should be recorded for posterity. Who knows what wisdom lies within?

But have you ever thought that those words might be important to someone else? Sometimes even just a single sentence can brighten someone's whole day without the other person even knowing it has done so.
