She'd likely try to glare me to death just for arguing semantics with her. She hates it when I do that.

You know, it really does amaze me you two haven't killed each other yet...

In complete honesty, I'm a bit stunned myself.

[Diarmuid groans, hurt by his own bad joke.]

I am so sorry. The boredom is getting to me...

[Waver laughed, gesturing vaguely to the door.]

Go on and start heading home without me. I'll check in with Ismene and follow you in about ten minutes or so--that way it won't look like we left together.

[He paused, an idea seemingly occurring to him. Apparently it was a good idea, because Waver followed it with a smirk.]

...Meet me on the roof of our apartment building. I'll be there shortly.

[Diarmuid blinks at the request, confusion crossing his face.]

You remember how cold it is, right?

[He shakes his head, not waiting for a reply since he knows Waver knows. Instead, he waves and disappears out of the room.

It doesn't take him too long to make it back to their apartment. Once there, he dallies for a short time, debating if he wants to change out of his suit or not. In the end, he ditches the jacket and the tie and leaves the rest alone. Diarmuid is fortunate that the cold really won't bother him, but he knows the story isn't the same for Waver. That is why he grabs a blanket to wrap around his shoulders on his way out to the roof.

At least the blanket will be preheated should Waver want it. Isn't he thoughtful?

When Waver arrives he will find his blanket-wrapped servant standing near the edge of the roof looking out over the city.]

[What happened to jumping at the chance to keep him warm, you dork.]

[After a short time, the magus came through the door leading to the stairs as well, having lost his own tie as well as the much smaller band holding his hair back. He greeted Diarmuid by crossing the distance between them and wrapping his arms around the knight's shoulders in contact that he found was far overdue after all that.]

I'm sorry I kept you waiting--thank you for putting up with that nonsense for my sake.

[There are many uses for warm blankets, Waver. Especially when there are two people under them. Have a little faith in him...]

You don't need to thank me for something like that. She didn't give you too much trouble, I take it?

[As much as Diarmuid enjoys having Waver's arms wrapped around him, after a moment, he turns and holds out at arm, offering to put that arm and the blanket around the magus.

Oh...heat and his arm around you. It's a good deal, isn't it Waver?]

No more than usual. She looked surprised I even stuck around as long as I did.

[Instead of accepting the gesture, Waver stepped back with a small smile as the usual mercury maid reformed herself behind him.]

First things first. I owe you something, don't I? [Taking his phone out of his pocket, he tossed it over his shoulder; catching it, the maid tapped a few places on the screen with a silvery finger until quiet music started playing from it.]

That being the case, could I possibly have this dance?

[That was unusually smooth for you, Waver.]

[Smooth indeed. Diarmuid's expression shows he is impressed and also quite pleased. He shrugs the blanket off from his shoulders, laying it across a box someone left up here before them and then steps over to where Waver is standing, holding up his arms.]

Like I am going to say no. Not when you put on such a show for me. I never knew that deep down beneath your nerdy exterior there was the heart of a seducer lurking and just waiting to show itself...

I learned from the best, you know. Don't expect it to last--I'm likely to trip over your feet and land on my face in the next five minutes.

[He took Diarmid's hand, slipping his other arm around the knight's shoulders.]

So let's try to enjoy this before I bugger the whole thing up, shall we?

[Diarmuid laughs softly, sliding his arm around Waver's waist and pulling him closer. At the same time, he leans forward so that he can whisper in Waver's ear.]

Do you really think I will let you fall? Have a little faith...

[fionnuisce]

You seriously underestimate my penchant for clumsiness. But I don't mind trusting you to keep me from stumbling off the roof.

[Smirking, he pulled Diarmuid along into a few careful dance steps to start out.]

It's just a shame we're relegated to somewhere like this.

I will forgive you this one time just so long as you remember the next time you are apartment shopping to get one with a room in it big enough to dance in.

[Diarmuid follows along as Waver leads him, actually proud of the fact he's managing not to step on Waver's feet. Progress!]

Still, I would rather this than nothing at all.

Anything you ask for, of course. [A shaky smile flickered across his face at that, as if there was some underlying problem he didn't want to address just yet.]

You've gotten a little better at this.

I would like to think so. It's too bad you haven't gotten any better at hiding things that are bothering you.

[He didn't miss that look, Waver.]

Do you want to talk about it?

[fionnuisce]

No...it's alright. It's nothing we haven't talked about before, anyway.

[It was already mid-winter, after all.]

I wouldn't want to cast some terrible shadow over this.

As long as nothing new has raised its head. The old problems we will conquer as the time comes to conquer them.

[Diarmuid seems willing to let things go at that. He really doesn't want to cast a shadow over this either.]

You will let me know if you get cold, right?

I will. Don't worry, I have a pretty good tolerance for cold.

Ah, but this isn't about testing your tolerances.

[A smirk crosses Diarmuid's face.]

It's about testing my ability to keep you warm...

Good thing I trust in your abilities wholeheartedly, isn't it?

Does that mean you aren't going to test me?

[A sad look crosses his face.]

And I had such plans...

Oh, would you rather I tested you? You could've just said so.

[Diarmuid leans forward to rest his forehead against Waver's.]

I think I just did.

Then I'll simply have to entertain that request, won't I?
