Did you ever think maybe they don't want to have to deal with the paperwork for someone getting themselves killed on their watch?

I mean, look at all the paperwork that went with my injury. Death has to be a million times worse.

And no we aren't asking him for favors. He's made it clear he wants nothing to do with me unless I come back to the force and...I'm not going to do that. Not after what happened.

[Lancer puts down his drink and gives Diarmuid a quick hug.]

It's not your fault. I really liked being on the force, but we are suppose to be keeping people safe. When people started distrusting each other and questioning orders because of me and those rumors...I knew it was time to go before someone got hurt.

[He looks down into his drink.]

I should have gone sooner...

Whoever started those rumors sucks. And your buddies on the force should have known better and trusted you.

What if you got a transfer? To some other town?

It's a moot point. I'm sure every cop in the nearby areas has heard about it by now. Love and power aren't a good mix. Not like that.

Besides, I wouldn't have had the time to work at the dojo if I was still on the force and I am really enjoying that too. It's not the same as being a cop, but I am still helping protect people. When are you going to come by? You keep saying you will, but you never show.

I swear my boss just likes running me into the ground sometimes.

Well...it's because there aren't very many workers. And those who are there won't work as hard as I do.
