I am sure you will. You're a strong person, by the sound of it. He is probably very glad to have you there to support him.

There are a a lot of things about the Tower you should know, but is there something specific you would like to have me start with? I will do everything in my power to make sure you are safe here. It is the least I can do for one who has done so much for another version of myself.

Ah, for a start... Knowing which floors are the safest would be helpful.

That is a good place to start considering some of the floors in this place are very deadly even though they might look safe at first. That is why I made a post with a guide to the floors of the Tower a few months ago.

[Diarmuid takes a moment to find the link to the post with his guide before continuing.]

Here it is. We have been trying to keep copies in places like the library and cafeteria, but sometimes they run out if the people who are helping me make copies aren't available to make them. I'm sure things are missing, but several of us collected data for over seven months before we posted this.

It's long, so take your time going over it. For the first little while, I would suggest sticking to the bottom floors of the Tower, floors 1 through 4. They hold things like the infirmary, the cafeteria and a library.

[Diarmuid shakes his head.]

To be honest, I've been told I can be a little hard to find sometimes. I always patrol all the floors of the Tower at least once a day and sometimes twice if time permits. There is no way to a make a place like this safe. All we can do is make it safer. That is my way of doing so.

I'm in room 4-16. If you ever need to contact me, I also regularly check my mail, so leaving me a note there or in my room is a good way to do so. If you need to find me immediately, though, there is a man who will be able to do so even if I am not with him.

[A fond look crosses Diarmuid's face.]

His name is Waver Velvet and he is in Room 3-10. He might be a little...grumpy at times, but he is completely trustworthy. He's my friend, partner, and master. Since you know a version of me so well, I don't think I need to explain to you what me naming him those things mean.

We've met, actually. Though I had thought him to be the Master of Rider - I guess things are different in different universes.

...That sounded less silly in my head.

Actually, it's not silly. It's correct. In most of the words we have met people from, he did summon Rider. It is how it was in my world, in fact.

[Diarmuid shrugs.]

But as is typical for him, he just had to be different, and so for whatever reason in his world, he summoned me instead of Rider. They did not win the war, but he tells me that his version of me died battling Saber and I am sure it was a happy death. One that very likely granted his--our--wish.

I'm happy for him. I often clashed with the version of him I met, but I never thought he was anything but a good person worth my respect.

[And Shadow incidents were... something else.]

Why did you clash with him so much?

[The question is out very quickly, and afterward, he seems a little embarrassed about having asked it.]

...His Servant and I had got on very well before he arrived to the city, and I suppose... he saw me as a replacement for him. I don't exactly blame him, even though I never intended to do such a thing.

It does give me the distinction of the only person in Prospero attacked by someone else's Shadow when that was the trouble the moon brought us. Usually they just went after their originals.

[Diarmuid laughs a little sadly.]

I...can see that. He might be laid back about a lot of things, but when it comes to his servant--whoever it might be--he gets very...possessive. I guess when someone changes your life so much, it is hard to see them with someone else no matter how hard you try.

[He gives Issei a curious look.]

You have mentioned these shadows more than once. I take it their appearance was a very significant and perhaps even a routine thing? You mentioned it being tied to moon phases...

Ah, Shadows. Monsters that appear after midnight, and attack us. There are - two kinds, or maybe three. The most normal are the ones that appear every night - we can deal with those easily.

Then there's the larger ones that show up around the full moon - they seem to command many other smaller Shadows, and we need to cooperate to take them down.

Finally... there's the ones that seem to take our forms, or that of those close to us. These are the only ones that can speak, but they only are interested in hurting us with that, as well.

[Diarmuid listens intently to Issei's description, frowning as the boy explains. Once he is finished, Diarmuid asks what is a rather pointed and specific question.]

Are there Persona users where you are from?

Everyone who's brought to Prospero receives a Persona. I have one myself.

[Briefly, a fierce-looking man appears behind Issei.]

-Good, he's still with me.

[Diarmuid gives the Persona a satisfied look, as if he approves.]

Good, I am glad you have someone to watch out for you. Only you will need to be careful. While you still have access to all of your special abilities, the Administrators can take away our abilities at will and that means you will no longer be able to summon him to help you. There are also monsters and floors that will strip your powers.

[Wow, from how calmly he is taking this whole thing it would seem like he's seen Personas before or something...]

[No, really???]

That is troublesome. My brother tutored me in swordplay some, but I will take this under careful advisement.

Would you like me to continue that training?

[The question is a natural one since Diarmuid has been training so many others in the Tower, but after a moment he realizes Issei might take it the wrong way.]

I don't mean to take his place, but I am already teaching many others. I would be honored to help you as well--to build on the foundation he has laid.

[After a moment's pause, Issei nods.] I think I would like that. If you have the time for me, that is.

[Diarmuid returns Issei's nod with a warm smile.]

I will always find time to help my friends. All you need to do is let me know when you would like to begin once you are settled and we can.

Unless you are from an alternate universe where up is down, black is white, and Diarmuid Ua Duibhne is not an excellent friend and amazing person, I feel confident.

[Diarmuid bows his head even farther, his cheeks coloring slightly at the compliment. He wants to argue with Issei, but he gets the impression that it will only be a waste of time and breath on his part.]

It does me no good to argue with you, does it? You already know how to counter all of my objections...
