[Waver almost instantly switched to that tone he often adopted when incredibly mundane things were suddenly of absolute importance for some reason.]

I'm sure...at some point we'll be able to live wherever we bloody well please, won't we?

[A gentle look fills Diarmuid's eyes. He leans forward and presses a kiss to Waver's forehead.]

Thank you, Mo Stór. I am sure we will. It will be our retirement home.

[He laughs.]

[Waver tried to shrug his own reaction off as nothing, frowning.]

...I'm not going to live forever, Diarmuid.

I know you won't. That's fine. When you go, I will go with you. I will have no reason to stay in the world any longer once you are gone.

[Diarmuid looks uncertain for a moment.]

I mean, I guess unless you had a reason you wanted me to stay...

[But it's obvious from the look of pain that thought brings him, it would be very hard for him to continue alone.]

That's not my choice to make. Surely you know that.

I know this too. It's just... I would want to go with you. Is that selfish of me? Even if there was something still to be done? Someone else could do it, right?

I never expected social upheaval would be accomplished in my lifetime. If that ends up left unfinished, it's fine with me.

As far as this goes, all that matters to me is that you're alright with the fact that I'm going to get older and die if the war doesn't kill me first.

It's the natural order of things. I am just glad that I have the chance to be with you now--however long that lasts for.
