This isn't his ruined home world and that comforts Diarmuid more than it probably should because it means he hasn't been sent home. Since he hasn't been sent home, though, there really is only one other explanation, right? That the Administrators are playing some kind of trick on him?

But...this place seems far too peaceful and quiet to be a trick of theirs. What is going on?

Diarmuid walks quietly for several minutes before spotting Suzaku's familiar form. When he sees his friend, he can't help but smile. Surely, together they will be able to figure out what is going on and get back to the Tower...

"Suzaku, it's good to see you. Any ideas as to what they are up to this time?"

Suzaku looked up as the figure approached, a warrior of some kind? And one that knew his name...

"I do not know where we are I am afraid." He started because he was not sure who 'they' were. Those that pulled them to these strange worlds perhaps, perhaps when people disappeared this is what happened, they had been pulled on, a more powerful world taking them.

The idea was disturbing. "I am also afraid I do not know your name, warrior." There was no headache, so it was not someone lost with his stolen memories.

A look of surprise and worry crosses Diarmuid's face. However, as he looks closer at Suzaku, very small differences begin making themselves known to him leading him to only one conclusion.

This isn't the Suzaku he knows.

Diarmuid places his hand against his chest and bows, "My apologizes. It seems you are not the Suzaku I know from my 'world.' My name is Diarmuid Ua Duibhne. It is a pleasure to meet you."

"Diarmuid?" Suzaku blinked in shock. And then remembered himself and bowed back formally, "I apologise too, for you are not the Diarmuid I know either." He had heard of people from different times but not this far apart...

"He is but a child."

"A child?" Could it be the person who this version of Suzaku knows is a child named for the hero Diarmuid had become? After all, naming children after heroes is a common practice even if said hero doesn't really consider themselves worthy of the title.

It is possible, but somehow Diarmuid doesn't think that is the right answer.

"Is he a small boy who has far too much dark wavy hair and who loves hugs and being patted on the head? A boy with a blue and green butterfly created for him by his father as a pet? A boy far too trusting and innocent for his own good?"

Suzaku nodded, "That is him." He told him, looking at the man and noting the similarities between him and the Diarmuid he knew. "He wishes to be a knight and has a strong sense of duty despite the fact he is only seven. I think he would be pleased to know he grows up to be a warrior"

Diarmuid smiles, though, there is a sadness in his eyes, "He will be a great warrior, but with great deeds comes great tragedy..." He closes his eyes for a moment, thinking back on his life, "There is so much I would tell him. Not that I think he would listen. He would just try to find a way to fix things. Never give up. That is what Father always said. If I still believe it now, I am sure he believes it then and with an innocent enthusiasm that cannot be swayed."

He should have guessed, a child like Diarmuid who took things so hard, with such a sense of duty and honour even at such a young age. He would invite tragedy.

It saddened Suzaku that the world seemed to seek out innocence such as that, to destroy it. "He would, he can be stubborn when he wants to be, though not as stubborn as his brother."

"His brother? Is..." Diarmuid gives Suazaku a wide-eyed startled look, before his expression saddens. "No, it cannot be him. I lost my half-brother when I was very young. Who is it he has grown so close to that he would name him brother?"

And does he remember what happened that night?

Suzaku blinked, Diarmuid had never mentioned a half brother. Though he had mentioned a friend, and a loss though he had seemed not to remember what exactly...

"He is another young boy who wishes to be a hero. His name is Cu Chulain. Diarmuid acts as an older brother to him."

Oh um, yeah, don't read the thread below unless you want FEELS....

"Cu Chulainn?" Diarmuid laughs softly, shaking his head, "Can it really be that I got to meet my hero on more than one world? Not that I think it is a bad thing. I call him brother on my world too. It is just strange that such an impossible thing could happen more than once."

Suzaku blinked, "It does seem an impossible thing, but I have stopped asking questions about these places that we are brought to. I am glad that you know Cu as well, the younger version of yourself gets on with him very well."

"I suppose you are right, but I still can't help but wonder. I...am far too curious for my own good sometimes," Diarmuid smiles sheepishly and then turns more serious. "If you don't mind me asking, has he mentioned forgetting something important to you?"

Suzaku nodded, a few weeks ago he disappeared for three days. I am not sure how it is where you are but people disappearing is almost normal in the city where we are. When he returned he claimed to have been back in his world for a year and spoke of forgetting something bad, he was upset but couldn't remember what he was upset about."

Suzaku's answer causes sadness to fill Diarmuid's eyes, "So he is from a time after that happened. I know that it might seem tempting for you to try and press him for answers--especially since he wishes to know them so much himself--but is it better he doesn't remember." His eyes close and when he speaks again, his voice is the softest of whispers, "No one deserves to remember seeing the man responsible for their birth murder their half brother and best friend with his bare hands."

Suzaku's eyes widened. So that was what Diarmuid had forgotten... He shook his head, "Though I cannot claim to like anything that removes peoples memories, I know how painful having a bad memory returned to you is, if it is best that he does not learn it then he will not hear it from me, nor will I push him to remember."

"Thank you. I know it is distressing to him now not to know, but it is better to be distressed than to have your mind completely broken by what you saw. My father did not cast his spell lightly," Diarmuid opens his eyes again and then smiles at Suzaku. "It sounds like he is just as lucky to know you as I am to know the version of you I know. Both of you are very caring and brave."

Suzaku nodded, "I understand." He wondered if Diarmuid's father had had some kind of Geass like Charles. If so he had used it more kindly than Charles ever had.

He looked down at Diarmuid's words, "And though you are an adult you still have a far too forgiving nature."

Diarmuid shakes his head, "I would rather forgive than anything else. I know the feel of hate and rage more acutely now. They are things I don't want to feel myself anymore than I absolutely have to, and I don't wish them on anyone else either. Besides, why wouldn't I forgive one who is like a brother to me? It seems even if you are from a different world than the Suzaku I know, the fact that you are too hard on yourself hasn't changed."

Suzaku blinked, like a brother to him? Suzaku hadn't ever had anyone name him brother before, and he wondered at this other version of himself, if he was even like Suzaku at all.

"If your Suzaku is anything like me then he has reason to."

"Reason? Perhaps, but he is fighting to make up for those mistakes and that makes him a much better person than he gives himself credit for," Diarmuid smiles fondly. "He is stubborn, but I will not give up until he realizes his own worth. I owe him that much for all that he has done for me."

"And what of you? Do you fight to fix the wrongs you feel you have done?"

"The wrongs I have done, they are not just a feeling." He wonders what kind of person Diarmuid was that he waved away such crimes as Suzaku's as mistakes. Unless the Suzaku he had known was from a very different world, was not a murderer, not a traitor.

"I am unsure how to fix things when I am not even in my own world, I believed finding a way out of the world I found myself in would be a start but instead I helped doom it and now I am elsewhere, that world and those I knew there are lost to me."

Diarmuid's fond smile remains as Suzaku speaks, perhaps even growing softer, "Same Suzaku no matter the world. You fix them by continuing to fight and by not giving up. Mistakes happen. Things go wrong, but as long as you keep fighting to make them right someday you will succeed. My father told me that as a child and it is something I still believe today. As way will make itself know to you. Until then, it is your duty to continue fighting."

Suzaku nodded, "They are wise words. I think I will have to remind the younger you of those next time he does something like set fire to his kitchen." Fighting was important, and he would succeed eventually, escaping from the city, going home, defeating Britannia.

Diarmuid blinks in surprise at Suzaku's words, "He set the kitchen on fire? Oh no...someone let him try to cook, didn't they?" He shakes his head, "Modern cooking. Apparently, it is my bane in any world..."
