[He grabs the dish rag from off its hook and reaches his hand out.]
Just give it over to me when you're done washing.
no subject
[Diarmuid gives his brother a grateful smile, before setting to work on the first dishes.]
Just set them on the table when you are done, and we will put them all away once everything is clean.
no subject
[A pause.]
How high do you think we can stack the dishes this time?
no subject
[Diarmuid turns to hand a dish to his brother for drying.]
If they fall, we will have to spend extra time cleaning up before we go to practice.
no subject
Plus we'd need to buy new dishes, and we can't rely on our credit cards all the time.
[Now that he's older, he knows more about credit cards and money management.]
no subject
[Diarmuid gives his brother a proud look before handing him the next dish.]

The people here are always so kind to us! And they remember us so well even though we've changed.
no subject
Yes. They are an odd sort of family for us, aren't they? One separate from the ones we have back home.
no subject
...Can you tell me a bit about your family again?
[He and Diarmuid had swapped stories ever since they came back into the city and found each other again. But he never gets tired of his brother's stories.]
no subject
[Diarmuid holds the pan out for his brother to take.]
You know me and stories. Is there something specific you would like me to tell you about this time?
no subject
no subject
Of course, I can if that is what you want to hear about. Have I told you about the time I helped save my Lord and several of our fellows from the traitorous Miodac and his cursed home?

[Diarmuid holds out another dish for his brother before starting into his story.]
Miodac once challenged my Lord to a game of riddles, but my Lord is a very wise man. Even without accessing his thumb of knowledge, he was able to easily answer the riddles. They were not very hard from what I heard later. One was even about my father who my Lord knew very well. This angered Miodac who wished to prove himself greater than my Lord. However, he hid this anger and one night invited my Lord and several of our fellows to dine at his home. The feast he laid was a great one, but it was also a trap.
Does this sound familiar? I don't wish to bore you if you remember the tale now.
no subject
[A pause.]
And I've heard a lot!
no subject
[Diarmuid shakes his head.]
Perhaps my Lord should have suspected, but he trusted the man at his word. It was trust misplaced. Not long after they sat down to eat did they find themselves unable to get up, spell bound not in the man's house at all, but an empty and abandoned shack. Try as they might, not a one of them could move from where they sat. They would have been easily slain by the forces Miodac was gathering had I not been alerted to their troubles...by a song.
no subject
What song was that? Who was singing? How did you hear?
no subject
However, it was obvious no time could be lost. I sent my brothers ahead of me and made quick work of what we needed to finish before rushing to join them. I found them, fighting bravely but slowly being overwhelmed.
[Diarmuid pauses to tap his brother's hand, 'reminding' him to continue at his work.]
I knew we could not win if we continued fighting that way, so I did the one thing I knew would bring the battle to an end. I challenged Miodac myself.
no subject
Wow, you did that? How big was Miodac? Was he bigger than you? Did he have special powers?
no subject
[With his brother returning back to work, Diarmuid turns back to his own work.]
He was about the same size as me, but just as I was, he was an extremely skilled fighter. I don't know how many special powers he had because I did not give him time to use them. Every moment I allowed the battle to go on was one more moment that might see one of my brothers seriously injured or killed. Speed was of the essence. That is why I did not use my spears for this fight, but my sword Moralltach. One swing is all it needs to end any battle and one swing was all it took here.

[Diarmuid shakes his head.]
However, the remainder of his men did flee. I cannot say I blame them. To break the spell upon my Lord and my fellows, spilling Miodac's blood on the floor was required, so I severed his head and carried it with me to the shack.
no subject
That's even cooler! Did your friends throw up cheers when they saw you come in with the enemy vanquished?
no subject
We saved our celebrating until we were sure the spell was broken. Then, we celebrated.

[He remembers his first battle. One that had happened quite recently from his view. Back in his time, it was not even a few weeks ago. He had taken three heads and carried them back to Ulster, one in each hand and the third in his teeth. However, it had been done in the throes of his warp spasm, so even now, he's unclear about what really happened. Instead, he had heard about it when waking up in his bed aching all over. There had been a big feast, but the conquering hero had been too busy moaning about a stomachache to enjoy it properly.]
